So a few nights ago (Aug 24) I was learning about difference between HOA and Video Hangouts. But I was curious to know about difference with Business Hangouts? Also, I know video hangouts can only have 10 people and education accounts can have 25 people. How many people on for HoA and Business Hangouts?

Highlights of the G+ Help File Troubleshooting Tab: Google Safety Center

We’ve finally come to the last stop on our Google+ Settings journey – the Google Safety Center. This is a perfect place to end our tour as it’s the best place you can go to ensure everything you do on any Google platform is as safe and secure as possible. It’s a place for everyone to learn all about Google’s wide variety of safety tools which were designed to protect your privacy while online. Your personal data becomes more and more important with every passing year, so keeping it firmly under your own control is vital to maintaining a minimum level of security.

The Safety Center really shines when used by families to better safeguard their activities online – those of both parents and children. The Safety Tools Tab at the top of the page will direct you to an incredibly diverse group of options, all presented in easy to follow formats, which give you access and control to every aspect of your presence while using Google’s wide range of products and platforms. You can even filter the option panels by category and product making an already simple interface even easier to navigate. Anyone, given five minutes on the page, can find whatever they’re looking for – including detailed directions for making alterations to the defaults.

The Safety Center also has an extensive array of Partners and Resources available when you select those respective tabs. The Partners list includes links to each and runs the gamut from child safety to consumer protection. It’s a comprehensive list of participants all focused on making the internet, and Google specifically, a safer place for all users. The Resources Tab is full of useful links to information of every kind related to internet safety, security, and privacy.

Everyone really should spend time looking over what’s on offer. After all, free information is always a benefit – especially when its subject is something so integral to your daily life. If users really thought about how much time they spend online with Google (or any other engine), and equate it to the real world – with real-world consequences for being lackadaisical – they’d probably be more apt to look into how best to “lock the door” when they leave. It’s just another best practice to keep in mind.

Find content and communities from all across Google+ with Discover

Big news today Google+! We’re rolling a brand new Discover stream to help you and new users find the absolutely best content our network has to offer. If you glance over at your left-hand navigation bar, you’ll notice a shiny ‘Discover’ tab waiting to be explored. Inside, you’ll find trending posts from curated sources in a new, denser format. Also inside are Featured Collections, Recommended Communities, and the previously announced Topics - which got a bit of a makeover as well, so be sure to check them out!

New and signed out users will land on Discover (previously ‘Featured Collections’) which puts content from a diverse set of sources front and center. We hope that this creates a better experience for new users that more readily communicates the awesome stuff G+ has to offer while providing existing users with a fun way to find and follow creators they haven’t yet, ahem, discovered.

To make way for Discover, you may have noticed we removed the Collections tab and the Events tab. Don’t worry! Collections and Events aren’t gone; they’ve just been moved. ‘Featured Collections’ have a new home within Discover and ‘Your / Followed Collections’ can be found by clicking on ‘Communities and Collections’ on your profile. Events can now be found in the overflow menu (three dots) on your profile when you can also find your Insights.

These changes will be live on web and iOS within the next day or so for all users. As always, please let us know what you think by replying to this thread or using the ‘Send Feedback’ option on web or in-app. Enjoy!

G+ Help File - Troubleshooting Tab: Fixing Google+ Issues

The next stop on our tour through the Google+ Help Center is the Troubleshooting Tab. Most people who’ve used Google+ have probably found themselves on this tab at some point in their G+ experience. It’s commonplace for users of platforms and products to go looking for a help file when they’re faced with something they’re not familiar with. That’s the process most of us have become accustomed to and we’re comfortable with it – to a point.

That tiny bit of discomfort is usually prompted by the feeling that there’s something, maybe more than one thing, we’re not completely sure of after reviewing the appropriate file. It’s a failing in the delivery of information, the right information, and not a failing in the user. It’s often not anyone’s direct fault for a lack of understanding – simply a miscommunication. That’s pretty common in the world of texts and emails we live in. That’s where these little posts come in handy. They try their best to illuminate the help files with a bit more detail – whenever possible.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the Troubleshooting Tab. This is where you can learn the steps to delete your profile, solve basic account questions, and even learn how to resolve a page suspension. Each of these steps is clearly defined and shouldn’t cause any difficulty for those trying to follow their lead. The next option is reporting abuse.

This is the focus of this week’s post – abuse. Google looks at all of the following behaviors as abuse:

• Bullying, threatening, or harassing someone
• Hate speech
• Impersonating someone
• Spam
• Pornographic or sexually explicit content
• Sharing someone’s personal information
• Violent content
• Illegal content
• Selling regulated goods
• Harming or exploiting minors

These are all very serious issues and have no place on Google+ - or anywhere for that matter. While our society isn’t always the politest of places, that’s no excuse for bad behavior in an online forum. And, it should be noted many of us actively look for this type of behavior and report it consistently. No one, no matter who they think they are or what they feel their “status” is in G+, has the right to harass or threaten, bully or belittle. So, if you face this kind of behavior from another user contact a TC or a Community Manager right away and report it. It’s past time the bullies and haters were gone from the platform – together we can make it happen.

Highlights of the G+ Help File - Sharing Tab: Polls on Google+

Now that we’ve completed our dive into the Google+ Settings Tab, it’s time to briefly cover a few areas in the Sharing Tab. Most of the material here has been covered before – by myself and others – so there’s really no need to go into anything more than a cursory glance at each. As you can clearly see, the first three topics are all about sharing a post on the platform and deleting it. This is a step-by-step outline for newbies to go through before they post for the first time. There may even be a few helpful tips an experienced user could pick out, but that’s down to the individual. For me, any help file is worth a look.

The first topic we’re going to take an in-depth look at in Sharing is Polls on Google+. This is a great way to gauge the opinion of your network and, maybe, have some fun in the process. You can include up to five options to include and it couldn’t be simpler to create and share. Polls can be created from your personal profile or from a Google+ Page. All you have to do to begin is click “What’s new with you?” as you would to post a normal status update. You’ll see the normal box open with the small icons at the bottom left. The third meter icon is for creating polls.

Once you’ve decided to make a poll you’ll be presented with a box where you can select the Choices you want to include – up to five in total. You can click on the Camera icon to add a background image for your poll, or click on the right half of the photo to select a separate image for each Choice. Now you just have to choose the audience for your poll and click Post. It’s that simple. There’s also a handy feature that allows you to view the results of your poll – including who voted and what percentage picked a specific choice.

Lastly, when creating a poll for Google+, it’s important to know the usage rights for any imagery you want to use. Just like with any post you share, you need to know the usage rights and policies in place to protect creators and their works. Making sure that an image is okay to use is easier with polls as the tool you use to create one has an image search function, but you need to double-check if you’re using an image you’ve found with search. Follow the link back to the source to be sure usage with modification is legitimate and, remember, always play it safe when using images that are not your own.

The Sharing Tab has quite a bit more information on Polls in Google+ - such as deleting images, who can see votes, etc. If you’re interested in learning more, I recommend perusing the entirety of the help file and familiarizing yourself with all of the relevant details. Google does a much better job of pointing out the minutiae than I can, so take a moment or two and learn more about Polls by visiting the link below.

Highlights of the G+ Help File Settings Tab: A Few Last Items

On our journey through the Google+ Settings, we’ve discovered all the helpful features to be found hiding within the drop-down and tried to give at least a bare-bones description of each. This brings us to the final three items to be found here: Teens & Google+, See How Influential Your G+ Profile Is, and Search in G+. The first, Teens & Google+ has already been discussed in a previous post, so we’ll move past it to the next item in the list, but not before including, once more, the link to Google’s Resources (https://goo.gl/WfBxa1). After all, there’s not a single thing found in any Help File that carries more importance than the life of a single young person.

Now, let’s look at the next item in the list – your profile’s influence. This is a strange way of looking at it and, at least from my perspective, a flawed one as well. Unless you’re promoting a brand or your business, the idea that your profile is influential seems like a stretch. Influence in this case is just another word for popular and we all know popularity doesn’t always equate to influence. In fact, some profiles are popular for exactly the opposite reason, so judging your profile’s worth based off of numbers generated by an algorithm seems a bit emotionless and calculated for a social media platform. But, it’s available for you if you want to see the data and it may surprise you to see you G+ profile laid bare so. I know it surprised me and I use analytics every day in my work.

The final item in the list is instructions for using Search in G+. This is an extremely useful function for tracking down all the goodies you’re interested in and can save you a ton of time. We’ve all seen an incredible post and wanted to share it with others, but lost it somewhere in our feed before we shared it. This is especially common when your feed is filled with actively posting users. Using Search makes this so much easier and faster – not to mention foolproof. This is one of those functions you’ll find yourself using again and again and wonder how you ever got by without it. You can find posts, people, pages, collections, and communities – basically, anything and everything G+ has to offer. That’s a pretty good deal, if you ask me.
