Does anyone know how to "cast" a screen via Chromecast  without using a browser? I figured out how to cast my Android screen,  which is awesome, but not my laptop screen. This is a Level IV Non-Emergency. :)

A tip or two to keep your posts OUT of the spam trash can...

~ DO NOT POST A LINK ALL ALONE!
Add a description to it in the box above where it reads Add a comment... (see picture)
Adding a description will help it be searchable within that community.  Adding descriptive words that others might search for will ensure YOUR post comes up when someone is looking for what you posted about and get traffic TO YOUR BLOG TOO!

~ DO NOT POST IN EVERY COMMUNITY YOU BELONG TO WITH RAPID FIRE!
Sure, you wrote something spectacular! Sure everyone you know, and strangers even, need this info! However, each time you share in rapid succession all within minutes of each other you are telling the Google bots that you are a spammer and everyone knows Google hates spammers.
I suggest you post in the one or two communities you KNOW it is most relevant to the day you write the post and then then next day you post in a couple more, and then next day one or two more.
if you belong to that many communities that your post is THAT relevant to, you may consider running your own community and build an audience!

bonus tip:
~WRITE YOUR DESCRIPTIONS TO SUIT THE SOCIAL PLATFORM YOU ARE USING AT THE MOMENT!
send a link to your blog post to each and every spot all at once is nothing more than spam.  Doing the exact same thing to every spot, Facebook, Twitter, G+, Instagram and so on just makes it look like you never read anything in those places.  Try customizing your share to match each place, Twitter & G+ & Instagram love hashtags, Facebook - not so much.  Twitter likes it short and sweet, G+ you can write a BOOK!


I hope these tips will help those of you whose posts may get trashed, are ending up in the "spam" folder, or who may not be getting the traffic you desire.

Firefox Hello - video calls/video chat
This video calling feature from Firefox uses WebRTC compatible browsers (Firefox & Chrome are 2 that support it right now). No account setup is required, send a link to the chat and they can join the call with you.

No connection that I see (yet) for a broadcast like a Hangout on Air, and I've not really learned all the details, but the fact you can do a video call with someone without needing to sign in or register will be helpful to many until they run into more limitations.

My name is Karen Chin from the San Francisco Bay Area. I work as a Marketing Consultant. I was introduced to this group by John Jurkiewicz. 

I have been active on Google+ since early October 2014 and became active because I was doing a Google Search on trying to get a better understanding of Hangouts on Air from what I taught during an online Google+ course (HOAs are so not Skype on Steroids!).

Besides other G+ Communities,  I am active in the Plus Your Business! Community and am a Level 3 PYB Academy student. I actively watch and participate on weekly HOAs as an audience member and HOA guest. I am also manage my own community - #28DaysofLOveChallenge  Community.

I am trying to set up a private HOA for this Saturday and I keep getting a "Oops, there was an error creating your event. Please try again later." message. when I click the "share" button to my notification circle (45).

HOA Tip... Check your surroundings before joining
When you are invited as a Hangout on Air (HOA) guest there are a couple screens you see before you Join Into a HOA filmstrip.

The first one you see requires you to agree to the terms and conditions of the Hangout on Air... things like you agree you may be broadcast and recorded, etc.

The next screen you'll see after agreeing to the terms is the one pictured here. It has a big Green Join Button so you can enter the HOA interface and interact with the other members of the call inside the HOA interface.

You may not know if the HOA has started broadcasting or not, so it is a good idea to take a moment here and look at what you see around you. Is what you are showing what you want others to see?

You may want to move things around a bit (papers on the desk, drinks on the table, etc.) before you press the Join button. Once you press "Join", your view won't be as focused on you as this screen shows, but if you like, you can pin your own thumbnail to see a similar view again once inside the filmstrip.

Learn more about the Hangout Interface so you are ready to handle all it offers you.

I would like to ask a question about inviting people to a Live Event on YouTube.  I am inviting them from my Google Page and they never get the invite. Someone who has joined me (he is a Google + user) has to send them the link to join the hangout. I know the people should be or must be on Google + to be invited is this correct?  Is it because I am a Page or what?  Thanks in advance.

Make sure your YouTube channel or the Google+ Page or Profile it's connected to is eligible for a custom URL and doesn't already have a custom URL set. 

If your channel just became eligible, it's likely just a matter of waiting for an offer.

I love when I look at my Communities page and it lets me know I have 3 new notifications by adding a red square and...

Then when you get in the community you see what category from where those 3 notifications came from.  I would like to see also a notification on the post.  Since I have my screen set to see 3 columns across I can't tell where the comments came from.  They might have all come from the same post for all I know.

Community owners and moderators love welcoming new members, it's true. What we love even more, though, is seeing those new members interacting within the community!!

You joined, you said hi, now go do something! Here are three ideas, think of it like being in a big networking event, where you introduce yourself to a group of people and then have to spend the rest of your time interacting with them:

1) Use the search tool to look for a burning question you have, maybe it was asked and answered already. If so, leave a comment on that post so show your appreciation.

2) Browse through the categories and leave comments on posts that interest you.

3) Check out the profiles of community members who pique your interest with their posts and comments. Add them to your circles so you can follow their posts outside the community too, and start to build a relationship.

 They were in town this week for their moms birthday and said "Hey, how come you don't use that for your HOA background?"

So we rearranged my office and if you really want to know what all of this stuff means i'll gladly explain  #baseballjunkie  

So we'll see how this goes. May have to move some of the pictures down, but just like all of life it is a work in progress. #lifemovesforwarddontit
