Title

I received the following e-mail from our friend Lily Seo and, with her permission, am re-posting it to the group.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recently I receive free upgrade windows 10 on my PC desktop.

After upgrading, I can only use Win 10, Microsoft edge to surf internet...
I try to start  hangout by myself, ask me to install plug in . I can't install, take long period to log. In the end say no internet connection.

I can't use chorme and internet explorer for browsing.

Asking help who is good with PC skills.

If not. I will go back old version. Downgrade back to Win 8.

Lily.

As I run Chrome OS mostly and have no experience with Windows 10, I was wondering if any members had any suggestions for her...

  1. I cannot imagine what could have gone wrong with that installation. I've done three upgrades to Windows 10 and all the computers run Firefox and Chrome (though I do love Edge - it is compact and blazingly fast!) Perhaps she will need to revert back (which Win 10 makes very easy to do) and try updating again.

  3. Just my two cents: I also upgraded to 10 on 3 machines. Results: Flawless. And I participate in 3 or 4 hangouts per week. I use Chrome 90% of the time and Firefox occasionally. I never used IE and haven't tried EDGE. I would agree with Terry Leigh Britton I'd also be interested to know what, if anything, worked for Lily

  5. Lily Seo Looks like reverting to the previous version and trying a new update to Windows 10 may be the easiest way to try and fix the problems.

  6. I upgrade to Windows 10 and have had no problems except with my electronic version of Evidence Explained.

  7. Lily Seo If you were not already aware how to revert, Win 10 makes that very easy. On the bottom right next to the clock is a new "dialog box" icon. Click that and then on "All Settings". Then on the last item, "Update and Security". In there, you'll see the "Recovery" item, and in there is the revert tool. (As long as it has not been 30 days since you updated, that is...) Not the "Reset this PC" item, the one below it (it should be obvious, but I mention that in case you are one who likes to click fast!) :-)

Yes, get some help - it was not in advanced options for me - it merely said "Go Back to Windows 8.1"  See http://www.howtogeek.com/220723/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-and-downgrade-to-windows-7-or-8.1/
