I've been toying with moving my webcast to the Zoom platform for a while now.

I've been toying with moving my webcast to the Zoom platform for a while now. Here is a question. When screen sharing can we remove the thumbnail video in the upper right corner of the person sharing? Alternatively can we put another panelist's video up there?

I've fired up my other computer to sets this but I believe the thumbnail can be replaced. However, to the best of my knowledge, it can't be replaced with another. I'll send you a link to the test recording as soon as I have it available.

  2. That's very nice of you Andrew Hatchett! I had a practice session with one of my panelists yesterday to get familiar with the platform. We couldn't find a menu selection for this. This morning I saw the "Hide Video Panel" choice listed in the help center article. It is very hard to test some of this stuff out because it seems like the interface changes when you only have 2 participants to when you have 3 or more.

This thing is taking forever to process. I will note that Michael Daniels has tried to get this removed but it always show up in the recording so I'm not sure at this point. I'll be in touch after I see the recording. Sorry it is taking so long.

  4. For Pete sakes Andrew Hatchett I don't why you are apologizing for helping me;^) I am in no rush so this doesn't have to be at the top of your agenda. If you need me to join you in a session or think that would help just let me know.

  7. Sheila Hensley Yes, and according to the sign in the window he's open 24/7! Seriously, he and this group have been of great help to me in the past. It is much appreciated:^)

  8. I thank my lucky stars every week when I ask a question and Andrew Hatchett has the answer immediately or goes out to get it for me when I don't even know where to look. Gary Solomon We really shouldn't encourage him with accolades but he deserves it. :D

  9. Yeah, Andrew Hatchett, I thought that Hide Video Panel might do it but no change in the share screen. What does that even do then? Does it hide your video in the gallery view?

While doing it live it removed the video from MY view - not sure what the others attending saw on their screens.

May have to try and get a small test group together for a bit of research.

  11. Andrew Hatchett yes. This is my problem. I am working on getting a few of my panelists on at the same time to do exactly what you are trying but it's not easy. Let me know if I can help you with this...

If I were to try to get a group to test this weekend- what would be a good time for you?

  13. Andrew Hatchett probably Sunday early but that's father's day so don't worry about it if you have plans.

  15. Andrew Hatchett I wonder if it could be done while using OBS? I know you can get a full capture page as I have done it with mine. However I was not using ZOOM at the time either.

  16. Arthur Morehead thanks for your suggestion. OBS won't work for me because I need to have panelists control what is going on during our webcast though I need to be the one streaming. That's why we use Hangouts now as it allows others to switch between speakers and screensharing etc.

  17. Andrew Hatchett you can stop worrying about the Zoom experiment. It just isn't going to work for me. I was able to assemble 3 of my panelist yesterday and give it a good trial. The deal breaker is that we can't switch away from a panelist sharing their screen. I use this to show a slideshow during the webcast. We need to switch to the speaker and back all the time during their interview or presentation. On Zoom this is impossible. I even verified this with online help. So thanks for your help on all this. I appreciate it 😊

Sorry it doesn't work for you - but maybe sometime they'll do an update that will allow what you need.
