Thanks to Andrew Hatchett I was alerted to the Zoom Webinar yesterday which was about the new features implemented on the latest version just released. I joined the webinar mostly out of curiosity. As some of you might recall I have been unable to use Zoom for my live webcasts because it lacked the ability to have a director stop someone else's screenshare and switch to another participant in the session. I made a request about a year ago for this feature and in November they said it was being looked at for a future release. Boy was I shocked to see this new ability pop up on the feature list during the webinar yesterday!

So now I will have to gather a few folks together to test this out. If it works as described I am a happy camper and will seriously consider moving my platform from HOAs to Zoom.

I've linked the entire feature list below which is quite substantial.

*Screen Sharing Enhancements
Ability to Stop a Participant’s Share
The host can now stop a participant’s screen share by going to the Participant List and selecting More next to the sharing participant’s name.*

Andrew Hatchett I just followed the U2U blog. I was wondering if (among all the various options you've already tried) you had considered moving this community to GSuite G+. Is there something about that platform that won't work for such a migration?

After learning about YouTube Premieres from Peggy K recently I had the opportunity to give it a try last night.

After learning about YouTube Premieres from Peggy K recently I had the opportunity to give it a try last night. My YouTube channel mostly consists of live webcasts I do monthly on YouTube Live using the Hangouts on Air interface. 3-4 times a year I travel and cover an event somewhere and shoot the video to bring back and edit for my channel.

Such was the case for my latest video which I uploaded yesterday. This is a loooong video (over 2 hours). It uploaded in about 2 1/2 hours then took about 45 minutes to process (not bad). I found that I could access Cards and End Screens at that point but couldn't make them work. I scheduled my Premiere for about 1 /12 hours later and set about promoting to FB, G+, Twitter etc. When the time came around I was already chatting with my viewers and we watched the 2 minute countdown commence. Cool! Then the red "Premiere" button lit up at the bottom of the screen and away we went. The one major snafu was evident immediately.

Though the video was fully processed according to YT it was only available at 360p resolution! This was a huge disappointment to me (and a bit embarrassing) as the video was uploaded at 1080p. I apologized on the chat and said I hoped it would update during the Premiere to a higher res but this never happened. No one seemed to mind and the interaction with more than 70 viewers was really fun.

So the warning I would give those attempting this is to give plenty of time for full processing before scheduling your Premiere. There is no indication from YT that this will happen and you can't even preview your own video until it premieres to everyone. It took at least 4-5 hours for my video to begin to appear at full resolution.

All in all a positive experience which I will attempt again.

I've been toying with moving my webcast to the Zoom platform for a while now.

I've been toying with moving my webcast to the Zoom platform for a while now. Here is a question. When screen sharing can we remove the thumbnail video in the upper right corner of the person sharing? Alternatively can we put another panelist's video up there?

Has anyone seen even one Live Chat Replay since this was announce last week?

Has anyone seen even one Live Chat Replay since this was announce last week? I found the choice greyed out on the Advanced Settings page of the video from yesterday's webcast. I've searched other videos of recent live streams and they all say Live Chat replay is not available. Is this just a very slow roll out?

I generally add hundreds of slides to my Google Slides app for each of my monthly shows. It was really getting tedious to manually add them one at a time then size them and center them before moving on to the next image. Last month I started using Slides Toolbox and it has literally saved me hours of work. It does a lot more than this but it is totally worth the premium price for this alone. Highly recommended!

Here we go again:^( Starting last night it looks like our "on again off again" Hangout Toolbox has taken a powder. I posted to the Hangout Toolbox community but I don't know if there will be a solutions this time. Anyone else?

I haven't tried this yet but I always copy and paste the live chat into a Google doc after each of my shows. I then link to this doc on my website in the past shows section. I will check this out to see it if this app improves this process.

Since I'm on a roll has anyone yet figured out how to fix the "mirror image" problem on all HOAs?

Since I'm on a roll has anyone yet figured out how to fix the "mirror image" problem on all HOAs? Since the Toolbox stopped working and subsequently was removed my screen and any of my panelists screens remains inverted this way. I know the image is broadcast correctly but it is unnerving to have to watch myself this way. I have cleared the cache in Chrome to no avail. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with the Google Voice plug in. The problem occurs no matter which computer I use. TIA!

Has anyone tried to join a Hangout on Air from a mobile device lately?

Has anyone tried to join a Hangout on Air from a mobile device lately? I just had a future guest try this using a link to the Green Room. When he clicked the link it just goes to the Google Play Store and shows the Hangout App. I tried on my own phone an it does the same thing. I know this worked a few months ago but I hadn't tried it since.

So there I was minding my own business conducting my interview with my guest in China this past Sunday.

So there I was minding my own business conducting my interview with my guest in China this past Sunday. Then as you can see we had an unexpected person jump into the filmstrip and pop onto the main screen until I could scramble around to find the eject button. We were using the Cameraman app so the audience shouldn't have seen this unless my director presented him and he swears he never did. It turns out my directed found two more intruders during the show that I never saw and he ejected them. The only links to the green room I posted were to the Hangout Messages group which only has 6 folks that are my panelists and two Facebook messenger posts to one other panelist and my guest. We have never had this happen before and I was wondering if anyone else has had such an experience. Any guesses as to how this happened? BTW, I did identify the crashers by finding their names in the Hangout mobile app showing who had entered and left the HOA. I don't think any of this was malicious in any way and perhaps it was accidental. I have reached out to the guy that appears in the video posted below on FB messenger and await a response. Curious, no?

Hi Andrew Hatchett.

Hi Andrew Hatchett. I just saw your post to me asking if I wished to remain in this community since you hadn't noted any activity from me in over a year. I wonder if this is referring to creating posts or participating in conversations. I guess I might not have created any posts but I do routinely participate in comments on posts. I always check activity in this community every day and have found it most useful on many occasions. If I haven't met the criteria for membership I apologize and hope you won't remove me from this very beneficial online source.
