Andrew Hatchett (watching videos) so you can "add to Google Calendar". Is that new or did I just not know about it?
ReplyDeleteAlso, is this training by U2U or is it BHO training?
Sheila Hensley, this is training by me and using some BHO info that is on their website.
ReplyDeleteAs to adding to Google Calendar, if you are speaking of the link you get in Email, that has always been their ( or at least it is so old I don't remember when it was added!)
Couldn't remember Andrew Hatchett thanks.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, Andrew...gonna start my homework
ReplyDeleteSylvia Tabor, let me know how it goes. Looking forward to seeing you on the 9th.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett I printed out the doc, and have watched the vids - I'm ready!!
ReplyDeleteMy thanks to John Jurkiewicz, Bill Graham, and Prema Q for joining me in the filmstrip tonight. My thanks also to those who watched or will watch on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteI was there, but no Business Hangout ever presented itself. watched as a YouTube video, then went back to the event page, tried again to find a link for the BHOA and there was none, so I just watched from the event page. frustrating
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrew Hatchett for a great tutorial and patient question taking. Looking forward to round 2.
ReplyDeleteBill Graham It was my pleasure, glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrew I learned a lot
ReplyDeleteI am watching the replay now :)
ReplyDeleteBill Graham & Prema Q
ReplyDeleteAT 28 minutes - In regards to PAGES with BHOA - it just means the video will be recorded to the page's YouTube channel.
using this feature that Andrew Hatchett discusses (add the page profile here) is strictly to decide WHERE will the video be recorded to.
Using a PAGE is very functional for a small business and can be very positive. Personal profiles are perfect for the folks who enjoy G+ as people ONLY and do not host as businesses like Michael Daniels and Andrew Hatchett both do. Those of us wanting to market a business and eventually make money, using a page is beneficial for marketing and brand identity.
A page allows you to have managers "help" you with your business. Profiles will not allow you that option at all!
no Prema Q & Andrew Hatchett I use a page for my business, that is why I use a page.
ReplyDeleteIt had nothing to do with cameras or hosting. I chose to go this route because when I began YouTube I did not know about G+ and there was, at that time, a discrepancy in the user agreement between YouTube and Google. YouTube did not have a "do not be a business on a profile" rule - but Google did back then. So, I was illegally using a profile as a business at that time.
With much thought, I chose to make a page and attach all the videos I had made at that time to my PAGE and be ME on my profile.
It was a change I had to make in order to keep my channel (which had grown a bit) with the same subscribers and keep my brand as Kraaft Shaak.
That is why I use a page.
Debi hosting for me and being able to control the hangout was just one of the bonuses we were able to do because I use a PAGE to run my Hangouts.
If anyone ever wants help with PAGES, please let me know - I am happy to help.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there have been MANY issues in the past with pages - many of those problems are resolved and many of the pros far out weigh the cons. The only CON I have in my list now is that I can not do a Google Chat (HVC) with anyone, so while doing my live show, people can not get a hold of me to tell me something is wrong or whatever.
That is the only thing I am missing as a PAGE.
at 56 minutes John Jurkiewicz asks a valid point -
ReplyDelete"do I still need to create a G+ event page?"
the answer is one I would answer like this...
HOW DO YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE YOUR HANGOUT?
I now say separate your hangout in your mind from G+ and see it more as "where will I share my show and how do I want people to interact?"
True for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and so on - you want each platform to get a different message and to understand where you want them to go and WHAT TO DO THERE.
So - my suggestion is, why a google plus event at all? If it is because you think you have to, you are wrong. Treat your BHOA event as if it is a blog post with video - do you share those in G+ Events? or do you make a post about the blog you want them to read on G+ and have them click the link to go view it? Well, then why change your strategy this way?
Basically, I would suggest this - when you set up your BHOA event, use the link they give you (it is shortened and pretty) and share that with a description of what you will be discussing and when. Let them know they can register now and leave comments now to be a part of the show. Let them know they will get an email reminders to return at the time it begins. This is a basic share.
For more impact share - I would create a graphic and be sure it is eye catching, share the photo with all posted above and the link, maybe even a "pin for later" link. Add your web address for more about your business.
OF COURSE - you must set up email reminders and implement them for those to work and you should have the details hammered down BEFORE you post publicly.
also, the share is a little different if you embed on your website...that is for another day.
John's second question about Michael's links for nightly chats - that is what you see when you share the link BHOA gives you, it is very nice and proves my point that no G+ event is needed any longer.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all of this great insight Heather Kraafter. It all makes perfect sense and is the reasons I too would use a page rather than a profile. I am going to try and set up a private event in the next day or two, It seems reasonably easy if I take my time but you know "seems easy" and "is easy" are two different beasts, I may have to bother you for advice then.
ReplyDeletebother away as you wish Bill Graham
ReplyDeleteActually, it is NEVER a bother to help U2U community members!!!
Thanks again Heather Kraafter
ReplyDeleteDidn't even watch the training but learned so much in the comments. Heather Kraafter thank you #queenofpages and everyone else for asking questions about pages. Wealth of information here.
