Chrome App Launcher on Windows is being removed!
Chrome App Launcher on Windows is being removed!
Someone tell me this is an April Fool's joke!
The app launcher makes Chrome apps easy to open outside the browser, but we’ve found that users on Windows, Mac, and Linux prefer to launch their apps from within Chrome. With Chrome’s continued emphasis on simplicity and streamlining browser features, the launcher will be removed from those platforms. It will remain unchanged on Chrome OS.
The removal process will take place over the next several months. Beginning in a few weeks, Chrome will no longer enable the launcher when users first install a Chrome app. Anyone who currently has the launcher will receive a notice informing them that the launcher will be going away. In July, existing instances of the launcher will be removed. - Google

Actually I never use it.
ReplyDeleteI use it everyday. This will add more work. I may set a folder up and bookmark the ones I use most often. Not happy :(.
ReplyDeleteOk. Now I will be irritated. So on my PC it will be different than on my chromebooks? Dang it! I love this thing. It is my "tool belt"
ReplyDeleteHow can I be BATMAN without my tool belt?
Not happy! I use this constantly all day long. This "cleaning of house" with everything Google is nuts
ReplyDeleteI usually just roll with the Google punches and learn a new way to do what I need to do. But here is yet another feature I use often every day so now it's getting personal. These constant changes and removals are IMHO why many of my past follows have left Google. It makes me question if the platform with so much uncertainty is even worth the time investment for a business. How long will it be I wonder before Google drops the ability to actually Google. :(
ReplyDeleteThe app launcher remains in chrome. Right click the bookmarks bar and make sure "Show Apps Shortcut" is checked.
ReplyDeleteCraig Long the notice says it is being removed in July. That is why we are upset. We know it is still there now, sir.
ReplyDeleteHeather Kraafter So maybe I read it wrong? I thought they were keeping the one in the browser but removing the one outside the browser but I don't really know. I thought there was one outside the browser but maybe not.
ReplyDeleteCraig Long oh that may be. I didn't realize it was a separate item. Man alive, get us all riled up - eh? lol
