Just did a practice run with some folks who will join us as guest in our HOA tomorrow.

Just did a practice run with some folks who will join us as guest in our HOA tomorrow. I muted them by clicking on mute in their "square" in the film strip. I could NOT unmute them from the box. Does this mean I need to have control box open from "get go" so I can control the mute and unmute button OR is this another Google Hiccup?

    You can Mute them, but NOT Unmute them. They need to unmute themselves.

    We tell folks, in the Green Room, to Mute themselves when not speaking, and when they want to Join the conversation to unmute themselves. We tell them that it is a Visual indication to US that they want to say something. Keeps the background and interruptions to a minimum.

    Leila Martin, I don't use the control bocx, but I believe that once you mute someone then they have to un-mute themselves... at least that is what happens to Terry Leigh Britton when Heather Kraafter  mutes him during the Plueword game.  :)

    Andrew Hatchett Leila Martin  I think you're right because i've accidently had the tv on when i joined a HOA and was muted and i could unmute myself. usually if the host mutes you they say why like in my case the tv was on. I was able to apologize for leaving it on and they heard me after i unmuted myself.

    The Green Room discussion makes the whole muting thing a positive experience, when we tell them to Unmute themselves when they want to be part of this specific discussion.

    We have a couple of folks who have computers that generate noise, and other's with family running around in another room. Our approach helps reduce that background noise, and we don't have to tell them on air or to force a Mute on them.

    It works for us.

    I teach guests that use a computer to click Ctrl-D and just toggle the mic on and off!

    These folks are NOT even close to being computer literate BUT they are great friends and huge supporters of what we do:). I will tell them to just I mute themselves as we figured out they could do. Thanks for all the help tonite guys- much appreciated
