Great News for Community Owners and Moderators!
Great News for Community Owners and Moderators!

Keep connecting with other people in Google+ -- and keep more spam out with our new content controls setting.
Our Communities are great places to share and discuss the things you love. Unfortunately, spammers are also aware of how communities bring lots of people together, and they target all manner of spam or racy and inappropriate content to many of our most active communities.
So today we’ve added more protection to our communities with stronger content filters & controls. Now we can be more aggressive in identifying inappropriate posts in a Community. When this setting is on, Google+'s content filter is more likely to flag posts that are questionable, so fewer of them will show up in your Community. Check your moderator queue to see these blocked posts.
Stronger content filtering will be on by default when you create a community and will be gradually enabled for many existing communities, so we can keep your communities great!

This is great news Andrew Hatchett, thanks for sharing. I have found that making my community an "ask to join" community and checking each profile before accepting new members has reduced this problem considerably. I wonder if we will receive a notification that a particular post has been flagged?
ReplyDeleteBill Graham I'm not sure- I get so few I don't remember if I get notifications or if I have to actually go into the community to see flagged posts.
ReplyDeleteBill Graham Andrew Hatchett you guys are lucky that you haven't had to deal with a lot of spam! Any post that is flagged as spam by Google goes into the moderation queue - you won't be notified. On desktop there you will see a banner when there are flagged posts if you open a community as a mod. In the mobile app, flagged posts in a community have an accept/reject banner across the top (again, only moderators can see that).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification Peggy K.
