I love Google translate and have been wondering about when someone will write option for a (slightly) simultaneous translation to occur in video streaming apps... the option could be what happens now in regular media where the original is muted. Thank you for experimenting!
that would be impressive technology, even trained translators have trouble with simultaneous. The problem is, of course, living in two languages, that google translate creates theoretical correct syntax no one uses so they can misunderstand. The key is always to talk or write in very simple declarative sentences. To help with latin languages, we would need a simultaneous video of hand movements and a way to affect the tone of voice as often the hands, or the tone make the same words have different meanings, whereas in English we use different words.
