YouTube has brought some Stream Now features to Custom Live Events:
Easy settings copying:
In your Live Events Manager, click on “New live event from these settings” to automatically create a new Event with all settings copied over.
Auto-resolution detection:
Starting today, you no longer need to specify your stream resolution and framerate if you don’t want to! There are 2 types of stream keys for you to take advantage of this: Single-use stream key - These will all automatically detect your settings Reusable stream key (renamed from “Custom Ingestion”) - Create a new stream and select “Variable” as the resolution.
Auto-start:
Automatically start your live Event when you start sending data from your computer by enabling “Auto-start” in Advanced Settings. You no longer need to manually click “Preview” and then click “Start”. Note: To stop your live stream, click “Stop” to let us know when you are completely done streaming.

Hey folks, over the next couple of days, we'll be rolling out some highly requested usability enhancements to the desktop notifications landing page (plus.google.com/notifications):
Open in a new tab: You will be able open a notification in a new tab via right-click menu, [cmd|ctrl]-click or middle-click. (Note that this keeps the notification in an unread state.)
Profile hovercards: Hovering over any profile picture will bring up the profile hovercard. Additionally, profile pictures are click targets, so they can similarly be opened in a new tab.

Just got a whole bunch of new email alerts letting me know that more devices have been added officially to Google's Play Store on Chrome OS list. Many have been "unofficial" for awhile. Any surprises here? Hopefully none of these emails were sent in error. Please provide feedback.

How to use IFTTT with Google Home to say any message you want
The challenge I had was to have my Google Home set up so that I could give it a predetermined phrase to which it would respond. So, for example, I wanted to say to it "Say hello to my daughter" and wanted it to respond by greeting her with a personalised message. There is no built-in function to do this though.
So I followed the guide in the link below. I created a new IFTTT Applet using the Google Assistant service, chose the "Say a simple phrase" trigger. The two things that are key here is to fill in a naturally sounding phrase to use as the trigger, and then use the response field for the Google Assistant's response which will be said by Google Home. You need to complete the applet though with a "then" action and I chose to use it sending me an e-mail to confirm it had done the action.
So using this I was able to let Google Home give each person a personal greeting when they arrived at my house today.

Updated lightbox on Google+ Web
Hey folks, another update this week. Over the next few days, we'll be rolling out a new version of the photo lightbox on Google+ Web. The new lightbox, which appears for photos that are part of single-photo posts (not yet for multi-photo posts), places a greater emphasis on the photo caption and comments.
There are a couple of reasons why I'm happy about this new lightbox. First, the EXIF data (found in the "Show information" menu item) brings back the display of the photo date; the previous lightbox displayed the post date. And second, clicking on the back arrow brings you to the post no matter how you arrive at the lightbox (people who found their way to a lightbox without being able to get to the post know what I'm talking about).

Optionally remove recent content from banned community members
Hey folks, over the next several days, we'll be rolling out a feature on Google+ Web that will allow community moderators to choose to remove posts and comments from members they ban.
To invoke this feature, select "Remove, report, and ban" from either a post or comment and then select "Also remove recent comments and posts in the community by this user."
Currently, this will remove recent post and comments from the banned user (you may need to perform a web page refresh to see content removed from your view). We're looking to improve this feature in future iterations, so bear with us with the ambiguity of "recent", which should, in most cases, cover your needs.
