How can I find someone on Google+?
I have someone's gmail email address and I know their name but there are so many people with the same name and most of them still do not have a profile picture.
How do you find the right person? Is there an effective search feature that allows me to find someone within G+ simply based on their email address or other unique identifying feature?
Thank you in advance.
Keith Caldwell the only way on G+ is if they have their gmail available in their about section of their profile. Also, you can enter their gmail in google search. The results may give you their YouTube Channel. If it does you can see their profile picture associated with the Youtube and Google plus.
ReplyDeleteSo in short, NO there is no easy way. Unless someone else has input.
Keith Caldwell Why not simply email them and ask for a link to their G+ profile?
ReplyDeleteA lot of people that are not real G+ers just have a Gmail account and have no clue about their G+ profile or were like me and set up multiple profiles unwittingly. I was just hoping there was a way I could find them easily and circle them without relying on sending them an email. I guess I will if there is no other option.
ReplyDeletetruth is, there is not an easy way to find someone if they do not do the minimal work for you - ie. add a pic and about page filled in. The things I love about G+ are also the things that make it tough for newbies.
ReplyDeleteI will add, I spent an hour helping someone get ON G+ and then a month later she has no idea how to get back in!!! So, ya - a little rough.
Sorry that did not help.
Keith Caldwell and Andrew Hatchett just to show you how poorly the search for people system is... I had my son sign up for g+ and when he tried to find me (my g+ profile) I never came up as a suggestion. So I understand your frustration.
ReplyDeleteHeather Kraafter There are a few things that the makers of Google could do to make things easier for those of us trying to make them the finest social platform in the word and this would be one of them. Allow us to search by a gmail address. That should be easy enough.
ReplyDeleteThe only issue I see with that Keith Caldwell is what if So-and-So trinket company gets a hold of a bunch of gmails and you get spammed to death. I understand a certain bit of anonymity. Especially when it comes to my email accounts
ReplyDeleteand as Michael Daniels just stated, one of the things I LOVE about G+ (lack of spam) is one of the hindering factors for newbies (lack of being found)
ReplyDeleteI personally say - let's just keep trying, focus on what IS working and BE PATIENT! It will all come at some point - hopefully NOT the spam though.
I flat out do NOT want anyone able to find my email address on G+ unless I specifically say I want it displayed on my profile - otherwise Google needs to keep thier hand off- no matter how difficult it makes it for anyone else to find me- that is MY choice to make- not theirs. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am not that concerned with Spam since I use gmail and they do a great job of filtering that stuff out. I guess there are two sides to this discussion?
ReplyDeleteand still the point again, that is what I love about this platform, it is truly up to the user how they experience this place. The issue really is most expecting it to be like the other platforms and then not happy when it does not work that way. My point is, if they want to be "found" they must make it easier for people to do so...Google does not force that on anyone.
ReplyDeleteand THAT is what I love about it.
Google needs a BIG sign for new users.. "LEAVE YOUR EXPECTATIONS AT THE DOOR! THEY ARE NOT APPLICABLE TO THIS PLATFORM!"!
ReplyDelete;)
Heather Kraafter Very true. I guess my only other comment would be that most newbies don't know what they don't know and have no clue they are hard to find nor do they know the importance of setting up their profile information. They just wander around clueless. I know, that was me.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett lol
ReplyDeleteI completely agree Keith Caldwell and that is why I hold hands and have EXTRA patience :)
ReplyDeleteand now - back to work, I think I have a show to do today! lol
For those that want to know the answer, I got a breakthrough in the Plus Your Business! community. I will share the link that gave me the answer in a second.
