Did You Know...

Did You Know...

you can +mention people not in your circles, and not suggested, if you know their google id number. A user's id number is usually in their url, or can be obtained by right clicking on a link to their profile.

  1. I use that when there are many people with the same name, so impossible to find while mentioning them.

  2. Andrew Hatchett please clarify what you mean by "right clicking on a link to their profile." I've been trying for the last 10 minutes to determine how to do this.

  3. John Brown if you open someone's profile, then alt-click (or right click) on their name, you can choose the option to copy the link address to their profile.

That link will use their 21-digit profile ID instead of their custom URL. You can then edit that so it's just a +[21-digit number].

    So my profile is https://plus.google.com/103172072345300450419

    To mention me:
+ 103172072345300450419 (remove the space between the + and the number)

  5. Peggy K thanks for the clarification. I managed to see that if I went to the user's profile I could copy the trailing number in the URL. However, if I found their profile, why would I need it? The "right click" thing is what I couldn't manage to find.

  6. John Brown if they have a custom URL, then the number doesn't display in the address bar. So in that case you need to to the right click option.
