Chromebook Mic Question

Chromebook Mic Question

Andrew Hatchett or anyone else know:

Is there any way to make a chromebook use a USB mic and cancel using the built in mic? Or do I need to buy a mic/headphone single jack like for a cell phone?

  1. If your Chromebook has micro-USB at least, then you can add a 2.0 or 3.0 USB hub and connect a USB mic. But the USB input is required for any USB mic. USB mics function based on 5v power generated through the USB port. Standard ports (3.5 or 2.5 mm plugs deliver zero voltage. Rol.

  2. Caveat - I believe you will need to make sure that the mic's "plug-n-play" system requires NO DRIVERS.

  3. There is several ways to do this it just depends on what you want to spend an inexpensive lavalier is one way or even a Rodes boom mic, Look up and grab a live chat with the boys at B&H website they can hook you up. I am working on the very same thing. Since I have no money at all to spend I have found a few low cost ways to go. I have been setting up my own braodcasting studio for several months now

I have CAD U-1's and the Chromebook has 1 each USB 2 and 3 just needed to know where they hid the setting to change the default device used. =) Andrew Hatchett Showed me I was looking to hard for a simple fix =)
It is a temporary fix for testing later today, since certain items won't arrive until tomorrow and I need to continue moving forward. ~thumbs up~ to all
