Hello everyone. Has anyone else seen this screencasting extension for Chrome from Wistia? It's called Soapbox and I tried it out yesterday. It's very handy!
The only down-side I found so far is that we can't download the recording but I'm sure there is a work around for that. :)

I'm not familiar with that app. I should try it out.
ReplyDeleteThere are 3 different Firefox extensions (if the video can be played in Firefox) that I use at times that can detect a video playing and can download it. Not sure if they will work to detect video from Soapbox.
I haven't heard of Wistia before.
ReplyDeleteOnly for audio Ileane Smith?
ReplyDeleteIleane Smith I didn't get your permission to download it but I assume you wanted me to try doing that. I will post it privately to you on G+ so you can have it.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty nifty, but $99/month after the first 3 videos is way beyond my budget.
ReplyDeleteIleane Smith I privately messaged you in G+.
ReplyDeletePeggy K using the Soapbox Chrome extension for these screencast recordings is free (so far). I guess they are doing some "content marketing" to get attention. :)
ReplyDeleteSheila Hensley This is for video screencasting - not for audio. I know I've been talking about audio a lot on YouTube lately, but this one is video :)
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett the full Wistia service is for marketers with deep pockets who don't want to use Vimeo. They have some email list building tools and other integrations. Also, anyone who uses Teachable for their online course is actually hosting their videos on Wistia (but they don't realize it).
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Craig Long that is really kind of you :)
ReplyDeleteIleane Smith It looks different.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ileane Smith. I'll check it out. Good info - thanks for sharing with us. :)
ReplyDeleteCraig Long how so? I'm not sure what you mean
ReplyDeleteSheila Hensley my pleasure!
ReplyDeleteIleane Smith I don't see the browser window that you are screensharing in the video. I only see you.
ReplyDeleteCraig Long I assume you are referring to the video that you extracting from Firefox - is that correct? No worries. I can record the video from SoapBox with Screencast-o-matic or Screenflow. Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteIleane Smith yes that's correct. Great that you can screen record it! No worries then.
ReplyDeleteSo this is only good for 3 videos before you have to pay the 99 bucks per month?
ReplyDeleteCraig Long I ended up using Screenflow. Recording a screencast with another screencasting software is very "meta" so just call me a geek! I uploaded the Screenflow video to my Facebook page. facebook.com - Basic Blog Tips
ReplyDeleteIleane Smith Very nice, you geek you.
ReplyDeleteAww! So nice of you to say that 🌹
ReplyDeleteI see now It's 3 videos per month any more than that is 49 bucks Thanks for the help guys, I found it a bit wonky to try to use as you have to use google chrome
