Highlights of the Google+ Settings Tab: G+ Verification Badge
The Google+ Settings Tab is more than halfway complete. We’ve made it through much of the information many have already encountered in their time across Google’s platforms and products, but now we’re going to venture a bit deeper into some areas many may have not known existed. Some of these have to do with changing and controlling your account, or that of your teen, and ensuring you don’t cost yourself money through unnecessary data usage while using your phone or tablet. Those are all great things, and helpful, but we’re here this week to look at getting a shiny Verification Badge on our G+ profiles.
You’ve surely seen these badges while looking around G+. They’re offered to profiles of famous people, organizations, brands, and companies. So, if they’re not offered to people like us, then how do some of us have them while others don’t? That’s a simple answer – Google Create.
Google Create is an awesome program where members share incredible content on a weekly basis. They use that content, and content from a wide range of sources, to manage themed Collections across Google+. You can apply easily and, so long as you match the criteria, find a place among the best creatives on the platform. Plus (see what I did there), you get one of those coveted Verification Badges for your G+ profile.
That’s an excellent reward for making the platform a better place for everyone searching for inspiration. So, take some time to look into the program and see all the other benefits of joining up. You may find that the badge is what brought you to Google Create, but, in the end, it’s the smallest benefit you gained from becoming a member. Next time, we’ll look into ways to control data usage and keep an eye on your teen while they use Google products – including G+.

Spencer Wade If we we sign on do the TOS state that we are giving the G+ team access to our gmail? I did not have time to read the TOS today.
ReplyDeleteI click on it and all I get is an enlargement of the logo, It use to take you to a recorded version. Whatever happened to that?
ReplyDeleteSorry about that Arthur Morehead, the link at the bottom should get you into Create.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Wade thank you for the information. I was invited to a Google program a while back but the TOS said the G+ team would have access to read my gmail, I would have liked to participate in that program, but I did n't want others reading through my mail. Now I am a little gun shy with these sorts of things.
