MeWe: Likes & DislikesIf you have used MeWe, I'd be interested in what you specifically both like and dislike about the program, particularly in regard as it being a possible replacement for the G+ User2User-LIVE! community. So far, I've liked what I've seen. Granted, there are a few things I'd like to see changed a bit or some features added but I've seen nothing that would be a deal breaker.
Your thoughts
I think it is great for a community replacement. It looks like the old hangouts. it would be nice if we could only see members posts within the u2u group, not some people in their posts replying or posting to them. it would be nice if we could post pictures from google photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm unable to answer, Andrew Hatchett It is way too early and testing is coming at me far too fast for me to come to any conclusion. The big picture looks good but will it fit it into my personal life and/or benefit my business are the questions I'm most interested in. Can I get back to you? :D
ReplyDeleteSheila Hensley
ReplyDeleteSure! No hurry at all. Just gathering initial impressions right now.

ReplyDeleteYes- direct posts from GPhotos rather than having to upload would be nice.
Group topic categories would be nice, as you guys have mentioned, with hashtags being a possibility. Outside of groups, Discoverabilty is tough, but so was G+ in the very beginning for me. Finding people to engage with without bothering them. I'm using it quite a bit, and posting a lot, so I'll keep you posted. Thanks for asking.

ReplyDeleteThanks, any and all feedback about MeWe is appreciated as we each use communities in different ways.
I'm with Sheila Hensley. It's too early to tell. Doing some experimental posts. No new followers outside of G+ connections. More testing on my side before I make a decision.

ReplyDeleteI've only shared my Mewe links to my U2U members so far but not all who follow me or my collections.
What I'm glad about is how much I've seen that is useful and that, at least so far, no real deal breakers. Lots more to do but so far so good.
Andrew Hatchett - I like what I have seen so far. Will need to play with Embedding a Video (You Tube embed) and you, the use of Zoom within the community.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, I'll have some time this week to play around and to join you, in a day or two.
Thank you,
Russ

ReplyDeleteYep - and doing the Zoom thing on its own is going to be a tad difficult without some 3rd party software like OBS/XSplit etc. since Zoom meetings/webinars lack a URL.

ReplyDeleteAbout the embedding... YouTube uses an iframe so I asked MeWeI and here was their answer... :(

Is there a way to promote your events publicly on MeWe so you can get new members?

ReplyDeleteRight now I'm not particularly interested in picking up new MeWe users/followers as much as I am in seeing if MeWe fits the needs of my present User2User members and my YouTube subscribers. Once it is decided that MeWe is the way to go that will be when I start looking for new people.
The transition problem, as I see it, and from the 2 communities that I am actively involved with, is to get the Google+ folks over to MeWe. I have had a very difficult time getting the Face Book folks to come to Goog;e+ . Then to have them move to MeWe. My hope would be that many (very low expectations here) from the Google+ Community Members to come to any "new" platform.
ReplyDeleteThat bad news is that most of them are active on FB, and don't react very well to "change"
I am not a fan of Facebook, but that is where the folks are that I really want to come over to Google+, but the word around FB is that Google is going way (they don't stop to read the "+" part of what is going away.
I am still hoping to find something from Google that will address Google Communities, Collections, and Circles. I don't use the later 2, but are Google Communities part of Google+ that was announced to go away.
Thanks for the discussion
Russ
Mmm, all interesting comments. It is a bit of a 'wait and see' yet for me too, although willing to jump in for the 'trying it' factor!
