I Thought I Would Share A link I came Across A Few Days Ago.
LMGTFY
Many in this community love to share what they know to help others. But have you ever come across that person who now OFTEN just goes to you without even trying to help themself. And of course because we love to help we drop what we're doing to go down the "rabbit hole" to fetch the carrot for them. Have you ever just wanted to say "_Google it_"
There is an old saying......... Give a man a fish and he will feed his family for a day, but teach a man how to fish and he will feed his family forever
Well the LMGTFY (Let Me Google That For You) link will allow you to help now and also discretely (or not) show them how to help themselves in the future.
This link http://lmgtfy.com/?iie=1&q= with the search query after the = sign yields a unique result.
For example if some asks "how to catch a fish", again, simply insert the query after the second = sign with no spaces and it yields this unique result. Here try out this link or add your own search query after the = sign.
Happy Fishing.

Brilliant!! :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you might like that one Andrew Hatchett. I think I would save it for rare occasions though. lol.
ReplyDeleteHey Bill Graham more than once, With Google's newer semantic search algo you can find anything just by asking the right question. I do it all the time, However getting back to your question yes I tell others that I have helped more than once to do it. I get a lot of artist friends who do this which is why I started a membership site. Especially when they ask about pricing their artwork. When they ask me about marbling, wood graining, cabinet refinishing, Venetian plaster, art, mural painting etc I love to help but many of this mindset are just looking for free education even the repeated videography production. I don't like to be rude or mean and there are some who do take it that way but it's nothing personal, I just don't like lazy people when it comes to research, Afterall it's how I had to learn as there was no one around that did know when I was teaching myself. Know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteArthur Morehead I understand. I will still try to help anyone that I can. I would only use this on rare occasions when someone begins to take advantage of my kindness.

ReplyDeleteI agree - only for 'special' occasions; but still nice to have that particular arrow in my quiver. :)
No kidding ... I have a LMGTFY T-Shirt from several years ago. Red, of course, with black lettering. I've given the link out too. But like my fellow Googlers, I use it wisely and help when I can. Thanks for the memory Bill Graham :D
ReplyDeleteSomeone REALLY has to be annoying me for me to drop a LMGTFY link on them. I think I've sent it to a grand total of two people. After all, nothing says, "Ok, I've had enough!" better than a LMGTFY link! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it!
