Update on Hangout Toolbox
It took a while, but eventually the Google engineers found a way to publish the Hangout Toolbox again. The app should now show up as a featured app again when in a Hangout On Air.

The extension should be available to everyone again starting today including the latest version with Material Design.

Please be aware that the app will still go away eventually in the long run as the API was deprecated.

Enjoy it while it's back again :-)

  2. With my latest post you don't need hangout tool box if you have/use OBS. Now OBS can be used for all your backgrounds and Lower 3rds.

  3. Michael Daniels OBS is very capable but in my estimation too complex to make it useful for one person to run a show. As you well know on Hangouts one can share controls which makes the workflow during a show much smoother. I understand there is no comparison in capabilities but with lower thirds working I think Hangouts is the better choice for me.

  4. Gary Solomon my only point is instead of a camera you choose OBS. Kind of a set it and forget it. If you wanted to have certain overlays and lower 3rds you can. I do understand your point. Hangout toolbox is within the hangout app, but still a few clicks to turn on and off

  5. Michael Daniels Glad to hear that Michael I love OBS I was a bit confused for a minute about the "toolbox" I don't need another redundant tool.
