Quick question: Heather Kraafter mentioned that if folks have a YouTube account they have a Google Account.

Quick question:  Heather Kraafter mentioned that if folks have a YouTube account they have a Google Account. My question is: do they need to have their YouTube account open when you invite them into a hangout?  We just always email the link so I'm confused (surprise!).

  1. Leila Martin I'm not sure but I think what she meant is that they have a Google account but need to 'activate'it so to speak (i.e. fill out profile, check correct email is associated with it, etc).

  2. If you have a Youtube Account you have a Google Plus Account.  Most people don't realize it.  This reason we would mention this is to let folks realize they are almost in Google Plus.
When you invite someone into a Hangout they should see the notification bell turn red in the upper right.  However, if they don't know what that is then I would stick to email the invite.
I would only notification/invite if they are well versed in Google Plus.
    Hope that makes sense

  3. But does having a YouTube account then allow them to come into a private HOA?  Before we've always told them to just open a gmail account that they don't have to use for anything else. Andrew Hatchett

  4. It does, thanks Michael Daniels  I just wanted to make sure that having a YouTube account meant they did NOT have to go get a gmail account OR sign up for G+.  We also email the link as it's just easier for our clients since a lot of them are not familiar to G+
