The image on the left shows the YouTube watch page after setting up a YTLE.

The image on the left shows the YouTube watch page after setting up a YTLE. on the YouTube site itself (note the area for live chat)... The image on the right shows the YouTube watch page after starting a HOA from the UnifiedChat Hangout Extension website (note there is no live chat area but that IS a comment area and comments made here during the live event are saved as comments when the event ends)

This has several ramifications.

  2. Ramifications can be a good thing! Thanks for testing, Andrew Hatchett . Going forward, it would be a good idea to express perceived inadequacies to Google/YouTube that chat/comments in live events are not preserved in the native app. It may just be a transitional oversight or it may be intentional. In either case, reminding them could bring the desired functionality to a YouTube live broadcast sooner rather than later if they get enough nudges. If not by default, then at least make it an option to preserve/append/merge chat with comments or allow selection of one or the other as long as they are preserved with the vid.
