G+: Events, Events & More Events
Any time something we’ve become familiar with goes through changes there will be difficulties adjusting to the new state of things. Yet, oftentimes, we overlook the good things because of our fixating on the bad ones. This is not uncommon, and not unexpected, but it is counterproductive. In most cases, if we simply took the time to experience the changes before judging them, we might find that everything we’ve complained is actually worthwhile.
One of the best inclusions in Google+ is the ability to plan and schedule events. This feature lets you create an event based on whatever you like and invite all your friends and connections to attend. Because it’s a Google+ feature, it seamlessly syncs with all of your other Google products like Calendar and Photos. That means that you can share photos of your event with your guests afterward, and even get RSVPs through your calendar so you know exactly who’s attending. That’s a useful function when planning an event.
Basically, all you have to do is enter the name, date, and time of your event, along with its location, and choose whether to open the event to the general public or confine your invitations to your specified friends and connections. This replaces the old Hangouts function, and while it’s not perfect, it does accomplish much of the same things you would’ve used Hangouts for in the past.
Once you’ve decided to put on an event, you have full control over everything connected to it. From the theme to the title, the duration to the guest list, it’s all right at your fingertips. The entire process is quick and easy and, because of the availability of Google’s Help Files, relatively simple to master. There really is no downside to hosting an event with Google+, so take some time and schedule an event of your own. You never know, this Google+ feature may become one of your favorite Google services yet.

This is based on the old classic system. It needs to be redone so it conforms to the new google+. It would be alot more helpful anyway if it were updated.

ReplyDeleteWhen they brought back Events to the New G+ there were no changes- What Spencer Wade showed is from the new events- I just used the new Events (see Screen Shot). Are you seeing something different?

Andrew Hatchett I clicked on this link (https://goo.gl/jmiQ1O) from Spencer Wade which states on the top that it's from the old classic and would be removed when it's been updated. My comment was based on that since it hasn't been removed.

ReplyDeleteAh-- I get it. Here's the problem...
Since Events were re-instated as they were in classic there really is nothing to update and Google should just remove the banner to avoid the confusion,
;)
Sorry for the confusion guys, the link does go to the old file.... Good catch Richard Clarkson and thanks for the help Andrew Hatchett
ReplyDeleteAlways good to have you around Richard Clarkson. Good catch.
