Andrew Hatchett I saw you mentioned me in a blog comment, but I can't actually comment on your blog currently because I'm not a team member.
The "mentions" is a Google+ feature, that does two things: 1. Links to the Google+ Profile 2. Autopopulates the + mentions if you have the option to get prompted to post to Google+ enabled
It's not particularly useful, especially with G+ being shut down.
There are three ways people can follow:
The Blogger "Follow" option. That will show new posts when you sign in to Blogger and click "Reading List" on the left menu.
People can subscribe to the RSS or Atom feed in their favorite feed reader to see new posts or comments. The feed isn't really readable if you don't use a reader like Feedly.
You can also add a "Follow by email" gadget, so people can get new posts by email.
And finally the comment form has a "Notify me" option to see new comments by email, which is how I saw your question :)
There isn't any way to ping a person so they are notified.
Peggy K Thank you so very much for this! I really appreciate it.
BTW- tried asking in the Blogger Product Forum and got email back saying it had been rejected as spam- butit still shows up in the forum - just weird (this within the last hour). Have no idea what is going on :)
Sheila Hensley - I think that answer's both questions-right?
Andrew Hatchett that's a problem across the forums at the moment (although mostly private posts). CMs are aware and you can check the usual places for updates...
Yes, sir Andrew Hatchett. Answered both my questions perfectly. Thanks Peggy K! I'm really enjoying Blogger and I never thought I would. Old dogs can learn new tricks! :)
I couldn't post a comment ... it mentioned it is only for team members!

ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett I've gone in and clicked the [Follow] button now! Didn't see that before ... but I likely wasn't looking either!
ReplyDeleteSheila Hensley I've tried making a comment in response to some of the comments others have made and it still needs me to be a "team member" ??

ReplyDeleteYou should be all set now. Just accept the invitation to be an author and you can initiate posts as well as comment and reply.

There you go Ros Boundy. Follow Andrew's instructions and that will open up the site for you.
