Just a reminder... all members interested in how we proceed as a community are urged to participate as this will help determine where we go from here - Thanks.

  1. I'm surprised Blogger has pulled ahead. But how do you get new members to join a Blog if all you have is a blog? I'm still pulling for YouTube communities since you can get new subscribers fairly easily. But YouTube is not much of a social community yet.

Getting new members for User2User has mostly been a word of mouth thing as we've never really done much planned promotion. I'll post the blogger link every so often on Facebook, some friendly blogs, etc. After that I'll depend on the members to tell their friends who are looking for tech info etc.

As to YouTube - I haven't had a new subscriber in over 4 months but non-subscribers keep watching but I don't see it as replacement for G+, especially as Not everyone has the community tab yet.

  3. Andrew Hatchett I'm sure this question has come up before, but is Blogger a stable platform that's likely to be around for a long time? I used to use it but I haven't in awhile. I of course will follow anywhere that this community goes but want to make sure that all the effort that you all put into it doesn't go away again.

Not sure if it has communities however.

One thing about Blogger is that it can be backed up easily. I don't really expect anything to last too long in this day and age. With G+ going away it seems there is a mini-revival in people looking at blogger.

  8. Mark Barrus, I've been playing with the U2U Community Blogger and I'm pleasantly surprised how much I like it. I never thought I would. Just FYI :)

  10. I'm following the User2User Blogger blog as well, and also re-invigorating my own that's I've started over various stages of my existences ... it is fairly easy to use Mark Barrus and Sheila Hensley. It's a surprise that it has extra stuff in it now that I didn't even know!

  11. I suggest conducting a poll in user-to-user. "I primarily check the community on computer / mobile". I have had difficulty with blogger app on mobile and the blogger web version is not mobile friendly, as far as I can tell. Maybe others have had better luck with it

    Excellent idea!
Perhaps a discussion of the Blogger app on mobile and the web version can help those on such devices.

  13. I'll post a couple screenshots the first one is the blogger app on Android. When you click on one of the post it just takes you to a chrome browser that is made for desktophttps://lh3.googleusercontent.com/rRnbh09N6XNlZv9WLn2AIK5OJjjafwEuT485YIXXE-JtGDiv15e94QLAzahili6NNwCtcF-fgu1WepKKRUinlpuX_xvFNghPdb9r=s0

  15. Interesting Mark Barrus. Check out Peggy K's Tips and Tricks at peggyktc.com - Peggy Ks Tips & Tricks on your mobile. Big difference. It may not be a blogger site - not sure - but thought I'd look and it looks good.

  16. Have confirmed that Peggy's site listed in above comment is not a blogger site. Sorry, but no help there. Mark Barrus

I'm a bit confused...at the bottom on that site is says "Powered by Blogger"

Looks to me like she is using Blogger on her own domain rather than the blogspot.com domain.

  18. That sounds right Andrew Hatchett. I didn't see powered by Blogger so I'm the one that was confused. :) Learning a lot about Blogger with your help. Thanks!

I think one of the big advantages that is going to help me is the ability to schedule posts ahead of time. No more staying up after midnight just to get a certain date on a post :)

  20. That is an advantage Andrew Hatchett! Good for you finding those small things that add up to make everyone's enjoyment of the new site better. Woohoo
