  1. Andrew Hatchett ty for the update. not good news at all. i think conusmers are just going to be left holding the bag so to speak. i'm assuming that means that collectionns, communties, hangouts etc will all be moved up to April 2019 also.
Since when does a data leak affect only consumers??? Since it affects everyone what is the rush to close the consumer side 4 mo's early?????

  2. So many unanswered questions Richard Clarkson. To your's, I'd like to add, how does the Consumer GPlus shutdown differ from those of us using G-Suite? Will all of my G-Suite posts, communities and collections go away too? Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

From what I'm hearing is that Communities & Collections within G Suite will be limited to within the domain (i.e. like an intranet rather than public facing).

That said.. , Google is being VERY standoffish as to giving actual detailsabout almost anything.

  4. Scott Scowcroft well hangouts won't be going away for gsuite users. I know eventually cousumers will be able to use hangouts chat and hangouts meet but that remains to be seen. i'm not a gsuite user so i don't follow what will happen to them but they will have things remaining that consumers won't.

  5. Lots of questions no doubt (typical of Google style)

  6. This must go down as a huge warning that you cannot trust these providers of online storage or other functionality, whether free or paid. I suppose Google Blogger and Sites will still work ... for the time being, at least. I have already started taking backups ready for when they trash them too.

At least we know we'll get a year's notice before before Google Classic Sites shut down...provided Google keep's their word.

I'm counting on Blogger being around for a while to act as a stopgap if nothing else. ;)

  8. So are there no data leaks with GSuite customers? I wouldn't trust GSuite being any safer.
