Great Plan for moving Communities...

Update 8 on the migration 2018-10-30:
Time to move on
Our MeWe Philosophy Group, linked below, is buzzing with activity, intelligent conversations, and probing posts and comments. It seems that most participants have already got used to the user interface and can comfortably navigate the web site and effectively use its many features.
At this time, a MeWe group appears be the one we will move to once G+ is no more. Because of that, I am going to lay down the roadmap to the final migration in August 2019.
Roadmap to the final migration to MeWe
On Jan 01, 2019
1- I will switch the ‘Join’ community membership setting to ‘Ask to join’ state from Jan 01, 2019 forward. New members will need to contact me directly if they need to join this G+ community.
2- New members will also be asked to acknowledge the fact that Google Plus will be shut down in August 2019 (using a template comment). If they don’t get back to me in 24 hours, I will remove them from the G+ community.
3- I will start asking the authors of new posts to kindly post their material in our MeWe Philosophy Group instead, if they can, before approving their posts. I will use a fixed templated for the text of that message.
On Apr 01 2019
1- I will not accept any new G+ community members here anymore from April 01, 2019 forward. All new members will be asked to join our MeWe Philosophy Group.
2- Posts that are approved in this G+ community will be given one week to be cross-posted into our new MeWe Philosophy Group. If they are not cross-posted after the grace period is passed, then they will be deleted, regardless of any criterion. I will leave a template-comment under all new posts to remind the authors of this.
On Jun 01, 2019
1- Posts will be accepted by the current members if and only if they are also cross-posted by the same author in the MeWe Philosophy Group from June 01, 2019 forward.
I will leave a template-comment under new-unapproved posts asking the author to cross-post first, wait for 24 hours for the cross-post to appear in our MeWe Philosophy Group, and then approve the post in G+ if the cross-post is made successfully.
2- All other posts that are not cross-posted after the 24 hours grace period will be rejected regardless of any criterion.
On Jul 01, 2019
No new post will be accepted in the G+ Phil. Community from Jul 01, 2019 forward, regardless of any criterion. The G+ Community will be frozen as is. Only comments can be made by members.
In Aug 2019
Google will shut down Google Plus. By then, the most active members should have been comfortably migrated to MeWe and most important posts should have been archived by their authors and enthusiasts.
Please comment below if you think something needs to be changed and you have good reasons for why.
Thank you!

Always a good idea to have a plan (and this seems like a good one)!

ReplyDeleteYes, I may 'steal" this to use as a base for my planning. ;)
