Hey guys!

Hey guys! As you know we do our HOA's on our website and they are started over on YouTube Live Events. Up till now the live event is run as unlisted on YouTube as it is streaming live on our site (goes listed once HOA over). I wonder if I make the YouTube LIve Event public if that might encourage more viewers. My question is this -What I don't know is what to do with the "publish" button on YouTube when it's live on YouTube and streaming on my site at the same time. What does the "publish" button do and will it mess up the HOA on my site.

  1. If it is live on YT and embedded on your site its the same HOA just being streamed in two places. The difference is if you have comments allowed on YouTube and people view your stream over there and post a comment, you need to remember to monitor those at the same time as any on your website :)

  4. I can't remember where I saw it but it seems to me it was once we went live.  I'll try and take a screen shot on our next event.  Thanks for your help Carol Dodsley

  5. I am not sure I know what you are saying about "Publish". As Carol Dodsley mentions you need to check over on YouTube for the comments. With that!! Keep in mind those comments are NOT saved so you have to get them while you are on live.
If your goal is to bring folks to your website then having the broadcast on YouTube may not be what you desire. But if you are just trying to get someone to watch I would suggest something on screen like.......
"If you want to leave comments and interact please come to our website _ _ _ _ to leave comments

  6. Hi Michael Daniels  thanks for commenting.  When we put up the live event the first line in the description is always come join us live on (website post URL) I guess what I was trying to figure out is since we always get a lots more view on YT once the event is over and the replay is public, I wanted to let them watch it live instead of the replay.  We consistently get 15 to 20 live views on the website, I just wanted those YT folks who like our replays to watch live also.  BUT I just read that have 2 streaming things going on means I need to have a lot of bandwidth??? So I'll just stick with what I'm doing which is live on the site, replay on YT with a consistent CTA to come over to the site to view and participate live

  7. You could always stream live on YT at the same time (it wont take your bandwidth if you do not have YT open) and switch off comments while it is live, that way anyone wanting to comment will read your description and come over to the website, or they can simply view it live......... without it affecting your bandwidth.  Then when it is over you can go over and edit it to allow comments?

  8. Just my opinion here but exclusively on your website live gives reason to go to your website and gives a single link for you to advertise over and over that is always where the next live is happening.
To get more folks to show up give more advanced warning. Rapidly tweet about it before and during. Share it in unique ways (pics of dogs having tea?)
You need to to advertise 100 times for 10 people to see it.

Those watching the replay on YouTube will always be watching replays on youtube. It is the bonus views to what you do.

Hope this helps you do what is best for your business.
