Several people using the 'Classic" G+ interface have asked how to get an alphabetized list of community members since Google has randomized them. This video shows two methods that can be used.

  1. Just a note!
The video is done in classic G+. But this also works in the New G+ as well

  2. I have no idea why but this doesn't work for me, Andrew Hatchett. I'm using classic G+. When I type the ! into the search box nothing happens. In fact, search only occurs when it finds an association usually after 3-4 letters.

  3. Gary Solomon I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I'm running on a Chromebox? Someone else mentioned they had to use 3 iii's to get it to work for them.

  4. Andrew Hatchett I just tried that. The first i does nothing. The second i does nothing. The third i brings up a member who is John Doe III. This is really strange. I am running on a PC with Chrome as my browser.

  5. Gary Solomon Strange indeed! I've no idea what would cause that to work differently for you.

  6. Is this a community with a lot of folks?
Is this our community (are you an owner?)

Maybe you can show us a screen shot of your situation in our nightly hangout https://bit.ly/U2U_QandA 8:30pm Eastern time
Maybe we can see something obvious where we might be able to help.

  7. Hi Michael Daniels. It's the Recumbent Bike Rider community and I am the owner. We have 780 members right now so not a huge group. Being able to alphabetize my members is not crucial to me but it would be handy. I can't make the Hangout tonight, sorry, but I'll try to jump on one of them in the next few days. You and Andrew are a great resource for me for both the community and for my monthly HOAs. Thanks for all your hard work!

  8. Gary Solomon Now I'm really stumped! I fired up my Windows machine (still running Vista Home Premium) with Firefox and it works on it with a single 'i' also.

  9. I thought you meant "!".  Do you mean "i"?

  10. Craig Long My typ0... I meant exclamation point (!).

  11. Andrew Hatchett OK.  Nothing works for me  :(
And I tried it in a community where I am a moderator.

  12. Somehow I also typed in the letter i in my above comment but I also meant ! I have used the ! for each of my tests and nothing happens. I'll try to jump in on your Hangout this morning to see if there are any more ideas to try.

  13. Gary Solomon One more try at this...
Try using "!" (complete with quote marks) and see what happens.

    ;)

  14. Andrew Hatchett  "!" works for me with the quotes!  Thanks for suggesting the quotes!!!

  15. Well what do you know about that? The quotation marks work like a charm. Andrew Hatchett you are a vital resource to me and so many more folks here on G+ and you can quote me on that ;^) Thanks for pursuing this!

  16. Gary Solomon So glad it worked - it was driving me crazy! Now if we only knew WHY it works that way for you and not the other!  :)
