I am trying to find out how to add a Hangout Button to our website so that folks could do a hangout call instead of phoning us.  I know I can do this with Skype but I don't want to use Skype.  Anyone know the code to put the handout button on the site so they can call me?   Problems I am over looking?

  1. Hi Leila,
    You're trying to do this for private Hangouts, right? I was thinking about it as embedding a player, but I think that's a public solution. Hope someone else can help, cuz I'd like to know myself!

  2. Hi Tom Collins ! Actually I want to use this on the front page an other pages of our website to make it drop dead simple for them to connect with us, they just click, don't even have to pick up the phone ;-) Hope you and Yvonne are well. Did you get a chance to look at the video clip we did from our hangout. I turned out really nice.

  3. You can make a link for sure.
    Just as I have done tonight so people can come join if they want to.

    I know how to do this on a Google Site.
    I can give you some code you can try:

        Hangout button demo: Async load
        http://www.example.com" />

  8. Problaby nothing,. Just different words for the same thing. My mind always defaults to HOA when I see hangout and I know they are different.

  11. NO idea really Leila Martin what should go there.  I don't know enough about coding.  However, I know you can add your email to the invite like here

                invites="[{ id : 'mygmailhere@gmail.com', invite_type : 'EMAIL' }]">

    I tested it and it worked well

  12. I won't be inviting anyone.  The button is simply there on our website so that when  People come to the website, click the hangout button and it rings on my end, I click in and we have a video chat

  13. That is what I am saying here:
    They click a button that opens a hangout.
    Then they are prompted to invite YOU in because your email is there (or your G+ ID if you like).  That way you Automagically get invited.

  14. Michael Daniels  I see what you're saying.  I think since the majority of our clients are not Google Hangout savy they may get confused?  I guess all I can do is test it ;-)

  15. I know you probably don't want to hear this but BHOA is probably better for what you want really.  You can set up a BHOA that people click to enter, they can chat.  As soon as they enter, you get an email saying they have entered.  Then you can go join them.  They can chat if they don't have hangout knowledge.  You can have a video playing, showing the instructions of what you want them to do while they wait for you to enter.

  16. Hmm, Leila Martin and Michael Daniels just had a thought: does this kind of solution give you a way to limit it to hours when Leila and/or Jim will actually be able to monitor it and join a hangout in person. As a consumer, I know I get annoyed when there's nobody home on the live chat tools on so many sites these days. I wonder if some kind of appointment setting widget might be a better first step?

    Just because we can doesn't always mean we should. ;-D

    Leila, the video clip came out great! I'll be sharing.

  17. No the only thing you could  add is a note on your website below and above the button that says "click during 10am to 5pm Central time"

  18. Michael Daniels  and Tom Collins    I have the same concern.  Right now I am on the phone on/off ALL day long.  There is no voice mail for a hangout so
    it would just ring - not a good thing.   Glad you liked the video Tom, I think it's great also

  19. Another thought: Leila Martin have you guys looked at Google's Helpouts platform? It's designed specifically for delivering consulting and similar services and includes appointment setting and the ability to charge by the minute or hour, as well as free. All sessions get recorded. I wonder if that might give you a way to connect with prospects and even offer a lower cost intro level service?

    That's pretty much all I know about Helpouts, though. I set up an account during their beta, but have never found time to use it. ;-P

  20. I've "looked" at them Tom Collins but not really gone any deeper than that.  I need to clone myself x 3 ;-)

  21. You could have two links side by side;
    click this link to enter a hangout call or if no one answers click this link to leave us an email/message.
    The way I see it, the button is for convenience.

  22. Yeah, I hear ya on the cloning. We wanted to start with Chloe DiVita and probably Yvonne DiVita would be next, so I'm probably on my own for the foreseeable future! ;-D
