Need to order a decent but not too expensive lapel mic for interviews on the road - any recommendations?

  1. WaterCitizen I've never used one so no recommendations from me, but I'm sure a few other members have experience with them.

  2. Cat, what will you be plugging the mic into?

  4. WaterCitizen I've looked at the options and if I were in your situation I'd buy:
Qty 2 of Movo LV4-O Lav Mics:

and Qty 1 of Presonus AudioBox USB 2x2 USB Recording Interface

The mics are "phantom powered" at 48v by the Presonus unit.  Reviews on the mics are that they are pretty good for the price but I'd expect to upgrade in the future as revenue becomes available to do so.
You might also need to purchase a couple of XLR cables as the mic cables are not very long.

  5. WaterCitizen I should mention that with two mics both you and your guest will be mic'ed and you can control the levels independently on the PreSonus unit.

  6. Yikes! $40x2+$99=$179. I don't think I can go that high right now. I'll have to think about that. I've been trying to put together this crowdfuding campaign for weeks - I really need to get enough funding to switch WaterCitizen to a 501c3 and then put together an initial team and get the right equipment together. I won't actually have the money until after the campaign. I'm trying to do video interviews & livestreams onto the crowdfunding page throughout the campaign (if I ever get the initial vidieo & story done). Can't get the money for the mics for the videos until after the campaign. Catch 22.

  7. WaterCitizen (Cat), presently there is an ebay auction for a used ATR 2100 which will end in 3 dys. Present price is $10.50 and they say they will tack on $8.95 for shipping. It might be the ultra-low budget option you are looking for,
