I have a question about Community based HOAs. I watched Heather Kraafter and Andrew Hatchett step by step 4 times yesterday thinking I may have missed something.
Here's my question...
When you set up the event within your community, it defaults to the all of the members of your community but you are also supposed to add the public to that event as well, right? I have tried to add public but the event does not let me make changes to add "public" or anyone else for that matter.
Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be modified to all the public to be added to this event?
Thx in advance.
Keith Caldwell When you set up the event within your community it should default to your community name in the "To:" field. If you then place your cursor behind the blue button with your community name on it you should get a drop down menu and the second item should say "Public", click that and it should add a green button that says "Public" inside the "To:" field - then click the green "Invite" button. You can then go to the created event and invite whoever else you want to attend.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps.
Thx. Here's what I learned. If you try to create your event from the main page of your Community, it does not allow you to add the public.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you add the event from within the Events category within your Community, you have the option to add "public".
I am not really sure why it works that way but it appears like I will be able to add public in this way.
Thanks again, Andrew Hatchett
Keith Caldwell is it a public community? If not, for sure it will not allow Public.
ReplyDeleteMichael Daniels It is a public community and anyone can join. I think it is working correctly but still not 100% certain.
ReplyDeleteMichael Daniels Here is the link to the public event. Commenting is not allowed but how would someone that is not part of this community access the live HOA when it happens?

Let me do some testing
ReplyDeleteKeith Caldwell It appears from what I've seen that non-community members can watch the live event from the event page or click the "Ticket" button and see it playing withing the community but can't leave comments in either place - is this the way you want it to work?
ReplyDeleteKeith Caldwell I just went to the YouTube side and could leave a comment there - is that what you want?
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett t. I believe so. I think this is what Heather Kraafter taught me. My questions are...
ReplyDeleteFor someone that comes across this event and is NOT a member of the community, is all they have to do to watch the live show is click the ticket link?
If someone that is not part of the community says yes they plan to attend from the event page, will this place it on their google calendar and remind them about the event?
Most importantly, how do I direct people to the current show to add comments, etc. I disabled commenting on the event to encourage commenting on the current show but realized that nothing points them to that page other than the click here for tickets. How do I encourage commenting in the right place?
Lastly, when people within the community want to share or invite others to the live broadcast, should they share the event page or the current show page? I am pretty sure I disabled resharing on the current show page so not sure how people are supposed to get the word out?
Thanks
Keith Caldwell and Andrew Hatchett would you guys like to hangout and chat about it real quick?
ReplyDeleteSure Michael Daniels - I'm ready Keith?
ReplyDeleteYes, I am available in 3 minutes
ReplyDeletesorry I missed this guys...I just got home!! How did it go?
ReplyDeleteWell!
ReplyDeleteWhat Michael Daniels said! :)
ReplyDeletegood to hear :D
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of them. They confirmed that I had set it up properly and introduced me to the concept of the Business Hangout and how that may be a better fit long term.
ReplyDeleteHeather Kraafter When you get a second, do you think you might be able to walk me through how you post your past shows to your website.website. I can't seem to imbed the post now.
