Mid August I will be doing my first BIG HOA.

Mid August I will be doing my first BIG HOA.
I have to admit, I am a bit nervous.
It is for a National organization and I will have a celebrity on board as our first guest speaker.

Have any of you done an evening HOA, if so what time usually works best?
I am thinking of a Tuesday or Thursday evening around 7 EST.

  1. Sandra VanSickle Before Mid Aug , maybe you can try , start set and Host a Practice session, SHOAE/HOA with our practice group...to make you more comfortable & steady....is your turn..

    1). Any way to determine how many ACTIVE Members of the National Organization live in which time zones? If so I'd try and make the time most convenient for them. 

    2).  Is there any way to poll the membership as to their preferred time?

    3). Anything I can do to help? :)

    As usual, Andrew Hatchett has some great ?'s on this. I have mine on at 5pm PT/8pm ET. If you're looking for "live" numbers to be high, definitely review the ?'s Andrew posed.

    I do mine at the time I do because of my work during the day. I know I won't have the "live" #'s, but I try to promote on other channels post-broadcast. I'm also turning it into a podcast which helps in the case of repurposing.

  4. Great questions and suggestions everyone.

    Most are on the EST, one in Bahamas, and perhaps a few in Canada.

    I can take a poll to get an idea of what time they prefer, my concern is there will not be an consensus.

    I have asked the National Board, they prefer Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon. My dilemma is our guest speaker is only available in the evenings.

    I will schedule a hangout in the evening the week of August 5th.
    I plan on bring in a member to get some training as well.

    I will brush up on my skills!

  5. OK-- now we have info we can work with...sort of.

    As this is the first big meeting I'd try and  meet the National Board's   desires- one reason being that their approval means more to your long term success than one speaker does. With that in mind I'd go with the noon date/time and try to get another speaker for the event.

    You might also announce that you will be holing another event later at 7PM Eastern for those  that couldn't make the noon meeting and have your desired speaker at that event. 

    The best part is that you could promote both at the same time... a kind of Double Whammy Grand Opening!

  7. Thank you all. I am traveling this week, I plan to gather my thoughts and have a plan of action in a few days . Andrew Hatchett, I will reach out to you this week. I will schedule the practice hangout for the following week.

  9. Sandra VanSickle agree with others, I'd stay with Andrew Hatchett on this one as it is such an important hangout for you.  Practice is good idea.  Will be happy to practice with you if you need a 3rd person.  Good luck!!! :-)
