I learned a few things that you CAN'T DO in an HOA.

I learned a few things that you CAN'T DO in an HOA.  In the short video below, one of my primary guests had extremely limited bandwidth.  My intended solution was to include him as a voice-only (telephone) guest.  The Hangout app add on Uber Conference would not load, for some reason, this morning.  Knowing that our video hangout meetings often included telephone participants, I asked our meeting coordinator how she did it.  She said that while in the video hangout, click the Add People button and there will be an option to add a telephone number.  That number is dialed and whomever answers can participate.  This will not work if you initiate the video hangout from a page (as opposed to a profile).  It will also not work if you are doing a Hangout On Air (as opposed to a video hangout.
After three false starts.... (nope that's not going to work, repeat, repeat) we had an interesting discussion about an upcoming robotics competition.

  1. John Brown , Wish I had known you were going to try to use Uber Confrence in a HOA, I could have saved you some frustration. ;)

  2. Rayne Dowell , our HTW Page is linked to our You Tube channel.  That is why we originate our HOAs from the page as opposed to the G+ Profile that "owns" the page.  While in G+ as the Page, I couldn't "add telephone" even in a video hangout.  When I was initiating from the G+ Profile (not the page) I could do so in a video hangout, but not a Hangout On Air (streamed live and recorded by You Tube.)  A most frustrating morning.
