New YouTube embedding requirements
New YouTube embedding requirements
If you embed your YT Videos on your website you NEED to read this!

Embed your Hangouts on Air or YouTube live streams on your own website or blog by enabling monetization
YouTube now requires that you have monetization enabled and AdSense linked to your YouTube channel to embed your live streams, including Hangouts on Air.
If you try to embed a live stream on your website without first enabling monetization and linking AdSense, viewers will see an error message, rather than your broadcast.
You can check to see whether you have the option to Embed live streams enabled for your YouTube channel at
www.youtube.com/features
As far as I know, you don't actually have to have ads displaying on your videos. Just enabling monetization and linking AdSense should be enough to have access to that distribution option.

Thanks for passing on the info Andrew Hatchett. For most folks who use this feature, setting up monetization and AdSense should be pretty straightforward.
ReplyDeleteI hope the wrapper apps get the word out to their users without too much confusion.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett indeed! Keep an eye out for questions in the Hangouts help forum. There is already at least one thread.
ReplyDeleteDo we know if this applies to public live streaming only or all live streaming (including unlisted etc)?
ReplyDeleteCarol Dodsley best I can tell it applies to all live streaming - that's just by setting up a live event, then checking the Event > Advanced Settings > Distribution options.
