It's been awhile since I've been able to spend some decent time in catching up on my 'learnings' and 'courses'.
It's been awhile since I've been able to spend some decent time in catching up on my 'learnings' and 'courses'.
A few questions have raised themselves in my brain (and I have searched my memory bank and was going to search my computer and thought it would be faster to ask here):
Is the HOA dead and only YouTube livestreaming the go?
Which is the best livestreaming platform to use where guests can be invited into a show and controls are easy to set up and use?
Currently I am doing a weekly LIVE on FB, using Belive.tv as the platform (which I have paid for) to stream as it is directly connected into FB and is very easy to use. I can download these from FB and upload to YT.
I ask, because time is something that is getting spread thinly between what I do and I need to focus on really learning 1 system to start, that is going to work for me! OBS or Zoom or YouTube Lives???
My ultimate aim is to get my website/s operational again and having what I do being on them, not borrowed platforms!
Last question for you Andrew Hatchett - will your posts here be transferred and accessible (the OBS series and Zoom ones mainly) at/when you migrate the User2User group to ??

After learning about YouTube Premieres from Peggy K recently I had the opportunity to give it a try last night.
After learning about YouTube Premieres from Peggy K recently I had the opportunity to give it a try last night. My YouTube channel mostly consists of live webcasts I do monthly on YouTube Live using the Hangouts on Air interface. 3-4 times a year I travel and cover an event somewhere and shoot the video to bring back and edit for my channel.
Such was the case for my latest video which I uploaded yesterday. This is a loooong video (over 2 hours). It uploaded in about 2 1/2 hours then took about 45 minutes to process (not bad). I found that I could access Cards and End Screens at that point but couldn't make them work. I scheduled my Premiere for about 1 /12 hours later and set about promoting to FB, G+, Twitter etc. When the time came around I was already chatting with my viewers and we watched the 2 minute countdown commence. Cool! Then the red "Premiere" button lit up at the bottom of the screen and away we went. The one major snafu was evident immediately.
Though the video was fully processed according to YT it was only available at 360p resolution! This was a huge disappointment to me (and a bit embarrassing) as the video was uploaded at 1080p. I apologized on the chat and said I hoped it would update during the Premiere to a higher res but this never happened. No one seemed to mind and the interaction with more than 70 viewers was really fun.
So the warning I would give those attempting this is to give plenty of time for full processing before scheduling your Premiere. There is no indication from YT that this will happen and you can't even preview your own video until it premieres to everyone. It took at least 4-5 hours for my video to begin to appear at full resolution.
All in all a positive experience which I will attempt again.

It's been a host of things, most of them not to positive. My health, my mom's health and a basement remodeling project that has turned into The Money Pit. (I told Joan that anytime you start pulling away drywall there is no telling what you'll find.)
Anyways.
I got some good news yesterday. Zoom told me I can participate in their Beta testing.
Something to smile about.

MeWe, it turns out, cannot possibly function as anyone's central public online presence platform (i.e., a place where one can point arbitrary people to and say "that's my online home"). A post by Mewe earlier today (which i can't link to because mewe doesn't support inbound links to posts) clarified that their pending addition of "public" pages means "public within mewe", as opposed to "public within the internet".
What follows is copy/pasted from a comment i made in a mewe-side discussion on that topic this evening (Central Euro Time), explaining why mewe cannot possibly change to become the platform i was hoping to find (specifically, a replacement for my One True Online Presence, which is currently G+)... (again, i'd link directly to the discussion if mewe supported such a thing... but if it did, this discussing would even be happening.)

Think of it this way: here on mewe we can all create posts saying "take a look at this cool post on Twitter, FB, G+, Narnia, whatever", but we can't do the reverse on any of those networks, saying "look at this cool post on mewe".
Mewe can't "fix" (change) that without breaking their privacy-by-design policy. Imagine for a moment that they suddenly offer the ability for me to mark my posts or forums world-visible. Now the comments of every other user in those posts or that forum become visible to the rest of the world, and that's not what they agreed to when they signed up for mewe. There's no way to consolidate that with mewe's wall-ed design and keep privacy-conscious users happy. Simply by making a post world-visible, if i type @Mark Hunt in such a post, that leaks, to the whole world, information which reveals that Mark Hunt uses mewe. Not every user is okay with that, and many certainly signed up with mewe because that doesn't/can't happen.
So... i'll continue to use mewe for the forums (i love the forum features, especially file/image sharing, except that you can't re-use an already-uploaded image in multiple independent posts/comments). i can't, however, use it as my central online presence, because mewe literally can't do that.

Simply by making a post world-visible, if i type @Mark Hunt in such a post, that leaks, to the whole world, information which reveals that Mark Hunt uses mewe. Not every user is okay with that, and many certainly signed up with mewe because that doesn't/can't happen.
So... i'll continue to use mewe for the forums (i love the forum features, especially file/image sharing, except that you can't re-use an already-uploaded image in multiple independent posts/comments). i can't, however, use it as my central online presence, because mewe literally can't do that.
