  1. Thanks for sharing Andrew Hatchett ! I'm seeing headlines that this is the "death" of classic Hangouts, when the change explicitly only affects G Suite users.

Yes, and in most cases I've seen it is willful to add a negative tone to the article.

  3. Andrew Hatchett it's all about getting the clicks.

  4. Andrew Hatchett, It seems I was prophetic in a previous comment, Andy: Google are deprecating their Google Sites (which i currently make great use of). They have a new version supposedly waiting in the wings, but it's a non-starter in terms of basic features that it doesn't have. Oh well, what next?

  5. Tony Proctor do you mean the New Google Sites that launched in 2016? That's a shame if it doesn't include the features you regularly use.

  6. Peggy K I regularly use HTML anchors to facilitate inter-/intra-page links, tables, custom font styles (e.g. fixed-width and coloured for code), and a number of other basic things (such as indentation for equations or quoted text). Attempting to convert my existing "classic" sites just made a complete mess and rendered them useless to anyone, so I reverted to what I had before. You also cannot create sitemaps for the Google Search Console.

  7. Tony Proctor interesting. From playing with the new Sites a little it does seem to be focused on features like easy embedding of content, linking to Docs she the like rather than advanced text formatting.

That sucks that switching to new screws up your site.
