I was just told Google + is being phased out?  A malicious rumour?  What would happen to Hangouts?

  2. Hype and potentially click bait article if you read it online - G+ is definately not being phased out - it is evolving and changing all the time but not going anywhere :)   Hangouts are also a separate platform to G+ although people think they are the same platform because they are integrated and Hangouts are also being evolved all the time - Google chat was recently retired and users moved across to Google Hangouts for their text messaging as well as it having been integrated with Google voice now :)

  3. Thank you for the clarification.  I hope G+ does some evolving as it still doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I only learned to use fb about a year ago. Social media is a new media in my life.

  4. Nancy Stubbs I am constantly told G+ is fading away as well. I think and hope it will be around for a long time. I think G+ is better for meeting new people than either FaceBook or LinkedIn, and I believe there is a bit less noise than on twitter.

  5. It is constantly evolving but is a great platform and once you do understand it it is very powerful too - as well as integrating a complete business suite of tools all from one login and password where everything works together ......

  6. Agreed, Carol Dodsley . This conversation should be promoted. Google+ doesn't need to make money, so has no incentive to monetize, so we don't see the commercial aspects of promotion. It remains that, as Andrew Ledford  states, G+ is better than Facebook (no comparison is possible, although they always try...) or Linked In. They state in propaganda that the average user spends only 7 minutes a month in G+. But among my constituents, it's more like 7 hours weekly. With me, I am "connected" 24/7, and "engaged" probably 4-5 hours a day.

No, it's not going anywhere..... reorganizing and refining. But will continue.

  7. Can you suggest ways to learn to use it well. I am finding the G+ official stuff not very helpful in how to really use it to make connections etc.  Just the how to .

  8. Depending if you are looking for professional training/help to really get to know G+ or not, there are some great resources out there.

I myself work with a non profit organisation as a trainer and we offer great half day workshops for G+ and Hangouts (all done using Hangouts) as well as have a book that I think you would find really useful that takes the "techy" stuff out of G+ and makes it very simple

As a G+ & Hangouts top contributor I spend hours in the help community helping users and there are a lot of people who find it a bit overwhelming, but once you "get" the bits it starts to become really simple and easy to use well ....... Both Hangouts and G+

Feel free to message me if I can help you at all :)
