reetings User2User members. I've been grateful for several interactions among members teaching me things I have benefited from. Now, I have a question, and wondered if anyone can offer a clue.....
Q; In HOAs, I/We (for #SMMSmarties HOA...) are disabling Showcase, and Q&A, and using Comment Tracker. Everything seems to be working.
Yet, viewers/attendees to the HOA are having difficulty commenting because a comment "box" does not show.
The issue is not consistent, but generally speaking most/all attendees experience this problem. Occasionally a couple attendees do not have the problem, and a comment option appears below the video as usual. But quite often, the syndrome applies to all.
Upon repeated "refreshing" of tab/window, some attendees get the comment option to work. Most resign in frustration.
I'd like to repeat: Comment Tracker is working properly and displays properly inside the Hangout. However, on the Event Page, and shared pages, viewers/attendees can watch the HOA, but not comment from those pages.
Can anyone shed some light? I offer my appreciation in advance. We're going to do some testing today after 4:00 PM PST.
Thank you. Roland
good to see you here Roland Takaoka !!
ReplyDeleteI will say that using all those apps together makes for a confused viewer and only the truly knowledgeable even really know how to find where to put comments in when using all of that.
But that is just my experience.
If your goal is to have interaction via comments, it seems using the showcase and Q&A apps are hindering that interaction. They were designed for a larger less involved more controlled experience.
Heather Kraafter, honey, read the question again. Roland Takaoka said Q&A and Showcase are turned off.
ReplyDeleteBut that was an excellent answer had he been using them. :D
Roland Takaoka If some are seeing a comment box and others are not I would tend to think the trouble would most likely be a bandwidth issue of some type. For those who don't see the box have they tried using Firefox browser instead of Chrome. What operating system are they running? Are they using Ethernet or WiFi connection? All of these can play a part in the problem so there really isn't a 'one size fits all' solution.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett I was locked out of commenting on Roland Takaoka 's last SMM show. I do not have this difficulty with any of the other HOA's that I participate with. I did not change my setup. Chrome on Home WiFi.
ReplyDeleteHi, Heather - agreed. We actually DISABLE Showcase and Q&A, and ONLY use Comment Tracker. Tim Longwell , Rayne Dowell and Bill Graham assisted in testing, and we figured it out. Really had nothing to do with apps. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteRoland Takaoka May I ask what the solution was?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheila Hensley , Andrew Hatchett , and Craig H . I believe we figured it out. I'll be reporting back with our solution so that others may benefit. Thanks, everyone.
ReplyDeleteAndrew Hatchett - could we chat privately on this? I don't mean to be mysterious. However I do have a reason. All will eventually be presented for all to benefit.
ReplyDeleteRoland Takaoka I can wait for the presentation, just wanted the info to get out to help others so if that will happen then I'm happy. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrew Hatchett Cool. Yes, we will divulge exposure of the Comment Gremlins then. I feel I owe it to all those who have diligently suffered through my Hangouts without being able to comment for four weeks straight, yet kept coming. We will then post a better report to U2U and tell all. :o) Appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteRoland Takaoka and Andrew Hatchett just catching up in here, what was the outcome of this?????
ReplyDeleteLeila Martin It was how Roland Takaoka had certain of his settings marked but I'd have to re-watch the video to tell you which one.
ReplyDeleteno worries Andrew Hatchett hopefully Roland Takaoka will reply and tell me on which video the "reveal" took place. Appreciate the response ;-)
ReplyDeleteOOH thank you Andrew Hatchett big hug!
