I am starting a HOA with a co-host and a community page was recommended.
I am starting a HOA with a co-host and a community page was recommended... do we also need a business page from which to host the HOA or can HOAs be hosted from community pages?
Myste Lyn I don't do pages so someone else (Heather Kraafter ?) will have to help there. That said.. I only know of Profiles, Communities, and Pages, I've never heard of a community page.
Thanks Rayne Dowell and Andrew Hatchett I think my language was off... I should have said only 'Community' without the 'page'... does this make more sense?
It sounds like Rayne Dowell recommends a Page for this purpose. Is it possible to start a HOA from a community? Trying to keep things simple and not have too many places going on ;)
Andrew Hatchett is correct in that you cannot start an HOA for your community, however, you can start an Event from your community and a an HOA to it. It is more cumbersome process. How about it I do a lesson on this next week, so folks can learn this process. If you think this is worthy of a topic of discussion I will do a hangout and demo this. Let me know.
Oh and by the way Rayne Dowell is spot on with all of her info in this post!! Very good job Rayne, can I steal this and post it in the future? Maybe I will just refer to this post.
Great info Andrew Hatchett Michael Daniels and Rayne Dowell I responded earlier to an email of this post and missed Rayne Dowell s great info and answer :) And yes Michael Daniels I think this would be a topic worthy of a lesson, but check with other members too. Please + me with info as I am preparing for an HOA launch and a product launch and do not want to miss this.
From my perspective, I would like our event page to be equal for co-hosts ... I really like the idea of having more than 1 manager for the biz page. I am meeting with co-host Patty Burgess Brecht today and will discuss this with her.
Can a biz page start a community page? If not then a profile sets it up and can add moderators who help manage community - I know I'm repeating Rayne Dowell but it helps me get the language down and learn better ;)
At the moment a community sounds like a great idea but we likely will not have much time to moderate it .... but we could always create it, have a slow start, and get busy with it as time allows... I'd love to hear any suggestions about this.
I always start a conversation like this by clarification statements first: A PROFILE: is by definition a person - A PAGE: Is an entity, like a business or an organization A COMMUNITY: is a PLACE to gather and share. ~you can use a profile to interact with other people and pages and mingle inside communities. ~you can use a page to broadcast your company/organizational messages, you can interact with profiles in a limited way if they interact with your PAGE. You MUST have a profile in order to set up and have a page. You can assign managers to a page that can assist you with many functions of the page, including hosting HOAs, handling replies and interacting with the public, and then there is access to the YouTube channel and the abilities allowed there. ~A community can be owned and operated by a page or a profile. It is more of a meeting place for like minded profiles and pages to mix and mingle with each other in a variety of ways, post messages, photos and videos. Host events and include HOAs into that process if they wish. A community can be PRIVATE, or PUBLIC or EXCLUSIVE. Topics within the community can be organized and messages tailored to you and your community's needs. A community can have moderators that the owner would assign to help with approving memberships, deleting spam, or just helping to get the conversations going.
I hope this helps clear some of your questions about these three often confused aspects of G+ Thanks for the mention guys :)
Heather Kraafter Is there a way I can 'share' your post with my co-host? Ah!!! I think I know how Patty Burgess Brecht Is this how? Patty is not on g+ much ... is there a way i could email her this?
