I have scheduled my first BHOA for Thursday evening. I am starting out with the free version for a small group. I find that several features are not available for the free version, for instance I cannot seem to make it a private recording. So do I just leave it as public and then edit through You Tube afterwards to make it private?
That is correct Judi McDowell you can also keep it sorta hard to find if you go out and remove the public post of the video from your post page on your profile.
ReplyDeleteIf you are doing a private Hangout On Air - are you having an audience or just the people inside the Hangout with you? If you are only having people inside the room with you then you may be better to go with a straight Hangout On Air without using a 3rd party tool as that can be setup through YouTube completely start to finish as a private HOA
ReplyDeleteIf you are having an audience and want it private you can do that without a tool but will have to know everyones email addresses to give them permission to view the live stream
If you want private and to use a 3rd party tool, that doesnt let you set it to private, then as Heather has suggested, you need to remove the post from your profile/page and also make sure that you don't give it a great SEO worthy title so it is harder to find on YT when it is running live.
Usually doing it this way you would also use an unlisted HOA rather than a public HOA as that is then also not streamed live on yout YT channel
those are great suggestions Carol Dodsley I believe it was Judi McDowell 's intent to practice using the all inclusive BHO application.
ReplyDeleteYes I understood that was what Judi McDowell wanted to do, but as a Hangouts top contributor I also wanted to offer some insights into alternatives as well for running a private hangout on air, as often people are not aware of the different ways to run Hangouts and the differences between using 3rd party tools (and there are many) and using Google+ and/or YouTube live to achieve what they want to achieve....
ReplyDeleteJudi McDowell feel free to attend tomorrow nights BHOA hangout for beginners. Even though this is for beginners, you can ask whatever you want, if it helps you in your tasks.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Google private Hangouts on Air are free to do.
ReplyDeleteSo I assume the free Business HOA would allow the Private also unless it disables that option for some reason.
The free version of Business HOA does not allow private. It said your subscription does not allow this feature
ReplyDeleteJudi McDowell and anyone else interested...YES, you can do private hangouts for free as Craig Long stated, however what this comment thread is about is BHOA specifically.
ReplyDeleteBHOA is a third party tool that allows you to combine many conveniences into one app.
Comment tracker, invitation ease, login, view and comment using G+, FB or LI, the ability to use some control room features as a host, embedding with comments on a website and so much more.
Privacy is another convenience...you can still do a private HOAs with the free BHOA account, however it requires some manual actions on your part as the host to make it private and con not be done so INSIDE of the BHOA app. If you want the automatic privacy and one click options, you pay for them in the different levels of BHOA.
I hope that helps to clarify some of what is being said here.
