John Jurkiewicz I know Michael Daniels uses Manycam, Voicemeeter, and the YouTube approved music list for his game shows for intro and outro. Terry Leigh Britton and John Brown are also knowledgeable in this area.
John Jurkiewicz On my group's HoAs we have a couple of people who use a mixer to pipe in intro and outro music/voice-over live on the show. Matthew Miller is our main host and he does this weekly.
I use a Berhinger Xenyx 1024USB (was $160 on Amazon) to mix my mics and feed into the computer via USB. It works GREAT!
Anyway, I have a second laptop (you could use a tablet or phone, though) to feed the audio into a channel on my mixer. So, when the time comes to play music, I can press play on the laptop, and mute my mic on the mixer.
Being distracted by all these things in an HoA is a risk, so I queue all the music I want for the show as tracks in Audacity (on the second laptop, of course). I then mute them all. Just before the show starts, I unmute the first track I want to use, and hover the mouse over the "play" button.
Then, when the time comes to play that music or clip or effect, I just click the button. If the track is longer than a few seconds, I will mute my microphone on the mixer to keep it clean. Then, when the track is done playing, I can just unmute my mic and start talking again. Audacity will stop on its own at the end of the track.
Then, I just have to mute that track, unmute the next track, and get the mouse close to the play button before the next time I want to play something (I usually just use intro and outro music on the show. Sometimes a soundbyte in the middle). I can usually find sometime during the show when someone else is talking to prep that.
A little practice, and you will have the technique down.
Great point, Rayne Dowell. We only use music that is paid for or our own creation. You can get videos removed/blocked in a hurry if you aren't careful.
