I have been doing some more practice sessions with BHOA and have a couple of questions.  First: If a participant (not the host) accidentally leaves the hangout how does he get back in? I think there is a button to click, but does it time out?  My friend did come back he was viewable in the filmstrip and had audio but he was not listed as a participant or a viewer. It almost seemed as if he was in a Video Call.  Is this the way it is suppose to happen?  Thanks and if you want me to wait and ask this in the Friday Office Hours session, I can.

  1. Judi McDowell The best way is for them to just use the original link they used.

If you see someone in the filmstrip but not listed as a viewer or participant the odds are they just have to click the business hangout icon on the left sidebar. Depending on how they re-enter it could have them in just a regular G+ HOA.

  2. just like Andrew Hatchett your participant was still in the hangout just not IN Business Hangouts App, so all is not lost - they just miss out on what everyone else could see and do.
It is EASY AS PIE to fix, just have that person click that green talk bubble on the left hand slide out that has 3 heads in it.  Then the person is then IN Business Hangouts again and they are the only one affected by that little oops.

  3. Heather Kraafter  Thanks, I thought Judi McDowell  meant they accidentally hung up the red phone or something and left the hangout entirely rather than just left the Business-Hangout app.

  4. Thanks Andrew Hatchett and Heather Kraafter . I thought he did try the green hangout button, but we did as suggested , hung up with red phone icon, used the original link and came back in.  I just wondered if that was the best practice.  I am not sure what he clicked when he dropped out, you know new people just like clicking buttons to see what they are.

  5. I guess I misunderstood - my suggestion would be if someone does leave the hangout completely to use the email link they were given to join in the first place just as you said Andrew Hatchett
If it was simply a click away and lost some of the "options" but is STILL sitting in the hangout with you, it is the green icon to click.  If that does not work, a simple F5 and then click the green icon.

Many times people leave the hangout completely, then see the folks are still hanging out in a "message box" and click the camera and join that way and that is simply the WORST way to participate as they will not be in the same "BHOA event" you and your other guests are in.

I hope that helps make some sense of it.

The beauty of this tool, there are so many things you can do with it and SO MANY ways to do it!  The draw back is that there are SO MANY ways to do this and so many things you can do with it!  LOL

Best practices when internet failure or clicking the red hangup button is use the original link!
